My hope of ever finding someone who would love geekdom as much as I did had fizzled out when Benji and I decided we were better as friends than lovers. He was into age play, and that didn’t really do it for me. I liked being a master and a carer, but I had no inclination of being a daddy.

Truth was, I’d given up on finding the perfect man a long time ago. A man who could accept my imperfections, loved nerdy stuff, and who’d want me to dominate him wasn’t easy to come by. And I was fully aware of that. I’d accepted that. I knew I’d have to make discounts if I was going to be with someone.

But it turned out, all I needed to do was move back home and find my perfect match in every way imaginable.

Frankly, I still woke up every day and thought I’d dreamed it all. But then Adam would roll over and cuddle me good morning, and he’d bring me back to my senses.

“Okay, I’ll leave now, and you can head in in five minutes,” Adam said and reached for his keys after finishing his smoothie and PB&J sandwich.

“Okay, baby,” I said, and he leaned down for a kiss. “Be a good boy until I get there.”

“Yes, Master. Always.” He grinned and put his coat on.

I finished up on my breakfast and washed the dishes before I put my shoes on and left his house.

It was strange being in someone else’s home when they weren’t there, but we’d been doing it all week to avoid prying eyes, and I was slowly getting used to it.

“Morning, Ava. Is the doctor here?” I asked when I walked into the office.

Ava was just putting the phone down and looked up at me with a dead-serious face.

“Seriously, sugar, how long are you two going to keep up the act?” she said, and I took a step back as if by instinct.

She knew? How?

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said. And did my hand move up to my heart? Could Ibeany more dramatic?

“Ho-ney, you know he’s inside. When are you two gonna stop wasting the gas?”

“Good morning, Charlie,” Adam said, walking in in his white coat and a clipboard in his hands, completely ignorant to the conversation we were just having.

“We all know you’re banging,” Ava said.

Adam froze, staring at me, and I was just as shocked.

“H-how?” I asked.

Ava put a hand on her hips and raised an eyebrow.

“You think you’re rocket scientists and we’re all just a bunch of hillbillies? Don’t you think folks have seen your car parked up at the doctor’s house?”

“It’s my grandma’s,” I said. I didn’t know why. It wasn’t important, or relevant.

“So you tryna tell me Mrs. Marina’s playing tonsil hockey with the doc? All right, that’s downright insulting.”

Adam was still petrified. I was still letting Ava’s words sink in.

Her mouth twitched to the side, waiting like a mama for us to fess up being naughty. Jesus, she could pull that off. I felt sorry for her daughter’s future partner.

“Okay, okay. You’re right. Wehavebeen playing tonsil hockey. And?”

Adam twitched, and his eyes flared from the edge of my vision, but I was completely focused on Ava.

“Finally,” she said and dropped the attitude, going back to the sweet receptionist she was. I knew Adam and I could go from our normal selves to our roleplaying at the drop of a hat, but this was damn scary. “I knew you two would bang eventually. All that sexual chemistry was bound to explode.”

Adam cleared his throat, and we both turned to look at him. Bless his little heart, his face was beet red.

“I’m sorry, doc, but those flirty eyes between you two were clear as day. Anyway, even if they weren't, you’re the talk of the town,” she said.
