“Oy vey, Adam. Are you okay? Why haven’t you answered your calls? What happened? Did the hurricane hit you?”
“Mom. Mom. Relax, please. I’m good. I’m fine. It was just a tropical storm and everything was fine. Not much damage. Don’t worry,” I said.
“So why haven’t you called your mother to let her know? I haven’t shut an eyelid all night,” she said, turning up the crank on her dramatic, on-the-verge-of-crying voice.
“Because cell signals went down, Mom. I wasn’t actively avoiding you,” I said.
Maybe not, but I was actively busy with my master. Although, she didnotneed to know that.
“I’m so glad you’re safe. Immuna kill Noah for leaving you all alone to face your first tropical storm.”
“I’m not a kid, Mom. I don’t need my hand held during a storm,” I said.
Although, a good dicking and some affection weren’t completely wasted.
Again, not pertinent information for my mom.
“They’re saying it’s over now. Do you want me to come down? I can cook all your favorite food, and you can show me around.”
No. I definitely didnotwant that. Nothing at the moment that could get in the way of me and my master.
“I haven’t even seen the town myself, Mom. Give me some time to get adjusted and then you can come visit,” I said.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Mom. I’m sure. I got to go now. I’ve got a whole lot of people to see.”
I hung up, but not before I promised to call her on my lunch break.
When I came out of the truck, Charlie raised his eyebrow, tapping his foot on the ground.
“Why did you keepmewaiting?” he asked.
He’d adjusted his tone and language, but he was still being dominant, and holy moly guacamole, I was giddy with excitement.
“I’m sorry, Charlie. It won’t happen again,” I said.
“It better not,” he said and turned around on the spot, but not before winking at me.
I couldn’t wait to be punished later.
Perhaps this move to Cedarwood Beach was going to turn out all right, after all. Maybe better than all right. Maybe I’d even found both my master and best friend for life all wrapped into one.

Charlie
It had been a week since Tropical Storm Ana had hit and turned my life upside down.
In the best possible way.
Not only had she brought me together with Adam, but she had made me take a leap of faith that I had been too scared to take since Lee.
It might have been two years since I’d broken up with him, but the scars of his insults were still healing. He was the reason I decided dating colleagues was the worst idea possible.
But I was so glad Adam was proving me wrong every step of the way. We spent every moment together, and he was the funnest person I’d ever met or been with.
And not because he could talk Cursed Hearts for hours. He was into everything I was. Superheroes. Bad boys. 90s cult classics.
