“I’m so sorry people are such assholes,” I said.
“Thank you,” he replied. “To be honest, though, not everyone was freaked out about the stoma. Some were freaked out about… you know.”
He waved the area around his butt, and I got the message.
“Hm. I see. So you don’t have a—”
“A rectum? Nope. All sewn up back there. This bag is permanent, and I was losing too much blood for the doctors to contemplate a temporary ileostomy.”
“I see,” I said. Charlie looked saddened by my reaction, so I rushed to add. “Well, they’re still assholes. What does it matter if you have one or not? There’s more than one way to have sex, and if you’re a top dom, anyway, it’s irrelevant to them.”
His hand clasped my cheek, and his gaze pierced me.
“I wish I’d met you years ago,” he said.
“Me, too.”
I closed the distance and tasted his lips. It might have only been a few minutes since I’d last kissed them, but I’d already missed them.
It was that feeling, the feeling of dependence and the clawing of my heart that pulled me to him that made me know I was falling for him.
And that he could be everything I ever wanted. Even if I barely knew him.

We wokeup early the next day and after we checked the news report, we made our way to the practice.
Driving through town, we passed many people who were out in their yards, fixing things outside their houses. Even though it was still early, the town seemed more awake than ever. But thankfully, the damage Tropical Storm Ana left behind didn’t seem to be huge.
There were more than a few trees that had been knocked down by the storm, and there was dirt and garbage blown everywhere, but no major catastrophe.
“I’m gonna drive by Main Street. I want to check that everything is all right down there,” Charlie said, and I nodded.
I’d let him drive my pickup. Well, technically my uncle’s pickup. He knew this place better than me, and I was still on cloud nine after the night we’d just had together, so I couldn’t be trusted behind the wheel.
“It doesn’t look like there was any flooding,” he said when we reached the shore. “Thank God. My brother would be pissed if he had to start his bar reno from scratch.”
He pointed to a place that had been boarded up, but a sign above the door read “Andy’s Bar.”
“And Mel’s B&B looks intact. Phew. What a relief,” he added, looking over a big building with tangled fairy lights across the front. I was surprised they hadn’t been blown away by the storm, but maybe there was a trick I wasn’t privy to.
When we finally reached the practice, it was a little past seven.
“Here we go again,” I said, unbuckling my seatbelt.
“Come on, doc. You’ll be okay. And if you’re not, that’s why you have me,” Charlie said and leaned over to give me a big wet kiss.
“You shouldn’t have done that,” I said, looking down at my crotch.
He smirked and got out of the car.
“Hm… we’ll have to find a way to take care of that without anyone noticing,” he said and closed the door behind him.
The thought of sneaking up with Charlie around the practice getting blown or fucked wasn’t exactly making this easier on my boner.
But the ringing on my phone did. Very effectively.
“Hey, Mom,” I answered the call as I came out of the truck.
