I nodded. “Yeah. I’ll call.”
Seeing who was next, I couldn’t stop my tears any longer as I ran into my brother’s arms. Hugging him tightly, I sobbed. “We just found each other.”
“I know,” Dante whispered as his arms tightened around me. “I’m gonna miss you too.”
“You promise to come visit me in California?”
“Yeah,” he grumbled, releasing me. “Danny wants Danika to see the ocean. I don’t know what the big deal is. It’s just water. Seventy-one percent of the world is water. Hell, she can see the damn Atlantic Ocean in New York, but no. He wants her to see the Pacific Ocean. And don’t even get me started on camping in Tennessee. Can you see me? ME! In Tennessee?”
I covered my mouth, trying to stem my laughter while Sypher growled as he held my niece Danika. “Keep bitching, babe, and we can move there permanently.”
Taking my niece from her father as he argued with my brother, I walked over to Melissa, who smiled as she held onto Ghost.
“We barely got to know each other,” she sighed, wiping away a lone tear.
“It’s a good thing we’re family now,” I said, leaning close to hug the woman as my niece reached for her chosen mother.
“Don’t you worry about them, Amber.” Ghost smiled. “I’ll keep an eye on them all.”
“Baby, we need to get going,” Massacre shouted from behind me as I heard him start his bike.
Taking a deep breath, I turned back around and saw all the club brothers, and without thinking, I ran over to them, hugging each of them. But when Romeo stepped forward, we all heard Massacre’s distinct growl.
Rome, not giving a shit, flipped him the one-finger bird before pulling me into a tight hug.
“Gonna miss you, babe.”
“No, you won’t,” I sniffed. “You have someone who needs you more now.”
“She’s too young.”
“She’s an adult,” I countered.
“What if she’s not ready?”
“We never are.” I smiled up at him. “Be patient with her, Rome. She’s not had the best life, and she’s had to grow up faster than any child should.”
“Her brothers are going to kill me,” he grumbled, and I laughed.
“Probably, but it’s nothing you can’t handle,” I said quickly, kissing him on the cheek before stepping away to find Cash and Kytten standing off to the side. Walking over to them, I looked at Cash and said clearly, “You take care of my sister, Cash. I mean it.”
The second the words left my lips, Kytten’s head snapped up, and her eyes went wide. Reaching for her hands, I muttered, “I’ve always wanted a little sister, and now I have one.”
Kytten smiled as Cash hugged her tight.
Looking around at all the faces—my friends, my family that I chose —my heart was breaking. I loved them all, but seeing Massacre sitting on his bike watching me, I knew I loved him more. Wiping my tears away, I headed for his bike, when the one person I didn’t want to say goodbye to stepped in front of me.
Looking down at the ground, I didn’t stop him when he slowly lifted my chin, forcing me to look up at him. The second I did, I burst into tears and threw my arms around his waist, as his enormous arms held me close for the last time.
“I’m gonna miss you,” King said stoically, kissing the top of my head. “It will not be the same around here without you.”
“I’m gonna miss you too, King.”
“You need anything. You call me, okay?”
“I will,” I promised, looking up at him. “Do me a favor?”
“Anything.”
