“Do what you have to, but keep him off my back. Remind him that as long as he stays away, I will keep August alive. If he so much as blinks in my direction, I won’t have a choice.”
“You have bigger problems. Valhalla is missing.”
“Fucking bitch is going to blow this shit wide open. I should have killed her when I had the chance.”
“You do that, and August won’t think twice before killing you. She has information he needs. Right now, he’s playing along because Montana ordered him to. You hurt that woman, and there is no telling what he will do. Just find the fucker and end this before it blows up in your face.”
“My son?”
“I will handle Ravage,” I said as Cash and the rest of the Silver Shadows walked back into the clubhouse. A few of the brothers were carrying the dead body of Tundra. Cash walked right over to King and handed him a note. “Tundra is dead. They fucking broke damn near every bone in his body.”
Opening the note, King read it before handing it to me, then stormed off.
Looking at the note, it simply said... “War.”
Chapter Forty-Three
Amber
One week later,
The sun barely crested the horizon as I stood outside the clubhouse and looked around the place that had been my home for the last five years. I wondered if I would ever see this place again, or the family that opened their arms and welcomed me as one of their own.
Beck and Blade walked over holding their new baby Silas. Giving them a quick hug, I whispered, “I want daily pictures.”
Beck sniffed as Blade hugged her close and smiled. “Every day.”
Sam and Jackass walked over as Charlie ran into my legs. “Don’t go,” she cried.
Picking her up, I hugged the little girl to me. “I have to, Charlie. I can’t leave Uncle Massacre all alone. He needs me to keep him out of trouble. Besides, I will be back.”
She hugged my neck as Jack reached for his daughter. “Come on, Shortcake. Let Momma say goodbye too.”
Sniffing, Sam hugged me hard. “I’m only a phone call away. God, this place isn’t going to be the same without you.”
“You let me know when the girls are born.”
Sam nodded, wiping her tears as Jack opened his other arm for his wife.
Seeing Ellie, Ryder, Chrissy and Tabby, I walked over to them, kneeling before the girls who hugged my neck hard. “Who’s gonna read to us now?” Chrissy cried.
Rubbing her back, I kissed Chrissy on the forehead and said, “I talked to Archie, and he said he would be very honored if he could read to you.”
Chrissy nodded and then smiled up at Archie as he walked over. Reaching out his hand, she took it, leaving Tabitha in my arms. Brushing her hair away from her face, I kissed her cheek and said, “I love you, Tabbycat.”
“Love you, Auntie Amber,” the little girl whispered before she turned to her dad, who picked her up, holding her close. Standing, I looked at Ellie and opened my arms as the emotional pregnant woman hugged me tight.
“When your next book comes out, don’t forget to send me a signed copy.”
“I won’t.”
“Come on, babe.” Ryder smiled. “Amber’s got a long line to get through.”
“They can damn well wait!” the woman snapped, and several of the brothers chuckled as Ryder moved her to the side.
Stepping forward, Haizley quickly hugged me and then said, “Online sessions once a week, unless you just want to sit and gab about nothing. Whatever you need.”
“Wouldn’t mind gabbing every once in a while.” I smirked as Gunner came up behind his woman, wrapping his arms around her and saying firmly, “You need anything, Amber. You call. Understand?”
