ME:What are you talking about?

FOX:I want you, Cam.I’m wasted right now, and it’s your fault.

I let out a breath.Is he drunk?

ME:Where the hell are you?

FOX:Frat house.Party’s insane.Come get me out of here, Cam.Make me feel better.

ME:Where’s Blaze?Can’t he help?

I wait, but no reply comes.Frustrated, I call him.He picks up on the first ring.

“Where are you?”he slurs, sounding completely out of it.

“I’m coming.Just… try not to drink anymore, okay?”

“I like it when you boss me around,” he chuckles, sounding oddly vulnerable.

“Don’t drink anything,” I say firmly before hanging up.I glance over at Landon, sleeping peacefully, then throw on a pair of jeans, and grab my keys.

I don’t know why I’m doing this—Fox has been nothing but a jerk and an asshole. But something about that last message won’t let me ignore him.I know I should ignore him, maybe leave him to sort things out himself, but deep down I know I can’t.Because a part of me still cares about him.

One last look at Landon, and I’m out the door, heading into the night to find Fox.

A Night To Remember

Damn.

I never thought I’d be back here after yesterday.I take a deep breath, standing at the entrance of the frat house, the place that keeps pulling me into Fox’s orbit.Being here reminds me of our kiss, a memory I’m trying to shake off.But I couldn’t stay home knowing Fox was in here, wasted, without his friends around. He called me for help, and for some reason, I couldn’t just ignore it.Maybe it’s not logical, but I couldn’t sit back and leave him stranded here alone.

That wouldn’t be right… would it?

Taking another deep breath, I step inside, pushing through the crowd and the thumping music.I cover my ears momentarily, glancing around the room, but there’s no sign of Fox.I weave through groups of people until I reach the couch we sat on last night, only to find a random couple making out there. With a sigh, I head for the kitchen, but he’s not there either.

I pull out my phone to call him, but he doesn’t pick up.Figures.

“Always an asshole,” I mumble, shoving my phone back into my pocket

“Cam!”A familiar voice calls my name, and I feel a hand grip my shoulder, spinning me around.

“Leanne?”She’s giggling, slurring her words, and swaying. She’s completely wasted.

“What… what are you doing here?”she slurs, leaning heavily on me.

“Have you seen Fox?”I ask, hoping she’ll be helpful.

“Fox, huh?So you two finally paired up, huh?”She smirks, but it’s hard to take her seriously in this state.

“Leanne, you’re wasted. Are you here with anyone? And do you know where Fox is?

She giggles again, wobbling as she tries to balance.“Fox?He’s upstairs somewhere.I came here with my roommate, but I think she left with Matt. She’s such a little—” She hiccups and giggles again, reaching for a random guy’s drink and trying to take a sip.

I snatch the drink out of her hand, drop it on a random table, and pull her along the stairs.“Let’s go find Fox and get you out of here. You need to go home, Leanne.I don’t trust these guys not to take advantage of someone this drunk.”

We reach the hallway, and I stop to look at her.“Stay right here, okay?Don’t move.”I don’t know if she’s actually going to listen, but it’s the best I can do for now.Fox’s room is somewhere along here.
