I knock lightly, then open the door, finding him lying on his bed, limbs splayed out, eyes shut.“Fox?”I call softly, stepping in.His eyes blink open, squinting to focus on me.

“You came?”he murmurs, voice slurred.

“Yeah.Come on, we’ve got to get you out of here.”I start searching his drawers for his car keys, muttering to myself, “Where the hell are his friends? They should be dealing with this, not me.”

Finally, I find the keys in the third drawer.I go over and help Fox sit up.He grabs my hand, attempting to stand, but he stumbles, falling back onto the bed.

“Am I that wasted?”he mutters, rubbing his forehead.

“Come on, work with me here, Fox.”I pull him to his feet, supporting him as he steadies himself.Despite being a drunken mess, he somehow still looks… annoyingly good.

As we make our way out of his room, he glances at me.“Why’d you even come?”

“Like I had a choice,” I mutter, rolling my eyes.

“You know you did,” he says, his voice unexpectedly quiet.“You could’ve ignored me.Pretended I didn’t call.”

“I’m not an asshole like you, Fox.”I shoot him a glare.

“Fox…” he repeats, a smirk creeping onto his face.“You make it sound so damn good.”

I ignore his drunk ramblings and stop dead when I see Leanne leaning into some random guy in the hallway.I walk up, feeling a surge of irritation.

“Hey, what’s going on here?”I demand, glancing at the guy.

The guy straightens up, giving me a cautious look.“Who are you?”

Leanne grins and pats the guy on the chest.“This is Cameron, my sweet friend who came to rescue me.He was going to take me home.”

The guy relaxes, extending a hand.“I’m Jeremy, her boyfriend.I finally found her. Thanks for looking out for her.I don’t trust these frat guys either.”

“Not sure I trust you either,” I mutter, eyeing him skeptically.

Leanne rolls her eyes and clings to Jeremy’s arm.“Don’t worry, Cameron, honey.Jeremy’s got me.I’ll text you tomorrow, promise.”She leans into him, lacing her fingers with his.

I nod, studying him closely.“Just make sure she gets home safe.”

Jeremy nods, guiding her down the hallway.“Thanks again, Cam.I’ll make sure she texts you tomorrow.”

They disappear, and I’m left with Fox, who stares at the spot where they left, swaying slightly. He looks at me, brows furrowed as though he’s trying to remember something important.

“Come on,” I say, gently nudging him to start moving.

“Cam, come on, I’m exhausted.”Fox’s voice, slurred and pleading, makes me jolt as his hand wraps around my wrist.I glance down at his hand on mine, feeling my pulse quicken. When I look up, our eyes meet—his blue gaze heavy and lidded with intoxication.

“Right.”I clear my throat, trying to stay composed, and gently guide him forward, my hand on his as we maneuver down the stairs, weaving through the drunken crowd.

The fresh night air hits us as we step outside, and I breathe a sigh of relief.“Where’s your car?”I mumble more to myself than him.Pressing the button on his key fob, I hear a beep from the private parking lot.

We reach his car, and I open the passenger door, helping Fox ease into the seat.“Can you even drive?”he smirks at me, eyes half-lidded.

Rolling my eyes, I shut the door, walk around to the driver’s side, and slip into the seat. His car’s interior is impressive—cleaner and more stylish than the outside even hinted.I start the engine, pulling out of the lot.

“You know you didn’t have to come, right?”he mutters.

“Shut up, Fox.Stop talking.I wish you had some water in here,” I sigh, checking the time on my phone.Nearly eleven.I should be in bed, not playing caretaker to this jackass.

I glance over at him, his head resting against the headrest, eyes closed.“Why did you drink this much?”
