“She can’t do that,” Blaze says, his frustration evident.
“She will do that,” Fox replies, his voice calm but firm.
“Why can’t she just mind her business? What part of ‘it’s over’ doesn’t she understand? She’s such an over-pampered, spoiled little brat.”Blaze’s words make me smile faintly. He doesn’t mince words, and tonight, I’m grateful for his honesty.
“Now I’m asking myself how the fuck I ended up dating her,” Fox sighs, his arm rubbing soothing circles on my back.
“Oh, I remember,” Blaze says with mock enthusiasm.“You proposed that friends-with-benefits bullshit to her.”
“Shut the fuck up,” Fox hisses, rolling his eyes.“My boyfriend is here, and my phone is on speaker.”
My heart flutters at the word boyfriend, and I can’t help the smile that spreads across my face.
“Ooh,” Blaze teases.
“Hey, Blaze,” I greet him, lifting my head slightly to speak.
“Hi, Cam.How are you doing?”Blaze’s tone softens.
“I’m good. How’s Landon?”I ask, resting my chin on Fox’s chest while absentmindedly toying with his nipple.
“He’s fine.”
“Is he there with you?”I ask, raising my head further.
“Nah, he’s at his dorm.”
“Bummer,” I say with a sigh.
“I’m sorry about Lexi,” Blaze says after a pause.
“It’s fine.Like you said, she’s a snotty little bitch,” I reply, earning a smile from Fox.
Blaze chuckles.“Yeah, she is.A fucking bitch, actually.”
I laugh, laying my head back down on Fox’s chest. His hand moves to cradle my head, fingers brushing through my hair.
“I gotta go, man,” Fox says, signaling the end of the call.
“Yeah.I’m gonna talk to Lexi tomorrow,” Blaze says.
“You don’t have to,” Fox says immediately.
“Yeah, you’re right.But I want to.See you tomorrow.”
“Goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” Blaze replies, and the call ends.Fox tosses his phone to the side, his attention fully on me now.
“You should stop worrying,” he says after a beat of silence, his hand resuming its gentle circles on my back.
I sigh, my fingers stilling on his chest.“A lot might happen tomorrow.”
“You have nothing to be afraid of,” he assures me.
I lift my head to meet his gaze.“I’m not afraid, Fox.I’m just…not ready to let the world know about my business.”
“Come here,” he says, shifting me so we’re face-to-face on the pillow. His blue eyes are steady and warm, filled with affection that makes my chest ache in the best way.
