Maxim laughed as he kept making jokes, “Precious as a diamond, with lips red as rubies, no doubt.”

I slowly shook my head. Anger replaced my fear suddenly as I snapped at him, “Zamolchi, Maxim!”

He stopped laughing and stared at me. “Aww, you are smart as well as delicious looking. Da, I see why he wants you.” He laughed all over again.

I felt real anger but not at his teasing. Deacon was the focus of my— I lost all thought and stared up at the sign. ‘Cotton Candy Club.’ “No way!” I exclaimed. Then I sunk down a bit as I did not want to give anything else away.

Maxim’s laughter got louder. “Da, yes way.” He leaned in close to me to say, “It seems that you shall now be a stripper again little Jewel, but with an audience ofone.”

I sucked in a huge breath and my body went utterly cold. We passed the sign and I watched with round eyes as the SUV pulled into the second lot past the strip club.

Maxim yelled at the driver in rapid Russian as the SUV swerved in at high speed and came to a halting stop. Maxim swiftly popped the door open and scooped me off the seat so fast that I wasn’t even aware of it really. Carrying me on running feet toward a large trash bin, the side of it rose open with a metal snap and he dove into it with me. He turned and managed to cushion my fall with his bulking body as we landed onto the metal floor. Part of my upper torso did hit the side of the bin and it hurt like a bitch.

I could hear the SUV’s tires screeching as it raced away. The slamming shut of that metal side door on the bin ? came down hard and loud ? effectively drowning out my scream.

Chapter Thirteen:Might Be The Day

Prophet

After Jewel rushed away, I automatically went to follow her, then I stopped. Shaking my head, I clenched my fists. This had been all too real for me. She was off to get caught by men Deacon had on his payroll. If they left even a mark on her...I let out a frustrated growl. Fuck, it was hard to keep in control. Every minute she would be away from me would be a fucking minute too long. I strode angrily back over to the house. Fuck the act, I was livid that we had to do this at all.

I headed down to the basement.

Hawk was there and he informed me, “They tell me her tracker hasn’t reached the road yet. But I need you to come with me.” He motioned me over.

I followed him through the hole in the basement wall. There were overhead lights every ten feet or so. I was on his heels for what felt like a fairly long way.

He stopped and turned to me. “Here’s the bike you will be using.” He pointed at a Ninja. “It has an onboard GPS tracking and comm device. I need to familiarize you with it for the follow.”

“If there is a follow,” I commented.

He nodded. “Well, we are short on time and I need to show you how this all works.”

For the next few minutes, he did just that.

I had to admit the bike was a work of art in more ways than one. “It’s fantastic,” I said after we were done.

“All due to Ranger and Tank of the Rebel Saints.” He smiled. “Military tech experts and Logan helped. We’ve all got them, pretty much.”

“All for this war?” I asked although I knew the answer.

He shrugged. “Yeah and if in the future, we need them. I have a feeling we will be at a full war according to some of the intel Logan has found.”

I stared at him. “What intel?”

“O had a whole team of soldiers. Bratva mostly and we aren’t sure if just Deacon is in charge of them.”

I shook my head.

“Yes, it never seems to end,” Talon said from behind us.

We turned to see him and at least five other men. They all pushed motorcycles along the tunnel.

“You know most of these men I think?” Talon said as he motioned to the men behind him. “We will be the Follow team of eight, then more will come behind us. So when we storm the place, we won’t be out numbered.”

Again, I thought if we get to storm the place. I knew part of me wanted this tonotwork. I wanted Jewel back here...safe.

A comm device buzzed from his hand. Talon raised it to show me. “Scrambled signal attached to others so Deacon will have no ears on us.” He spoke into it, “What is it?”
