“I don’t agree, man…” Redemption shook his head. “I’ll be down there waiting for you.” He moved away from the door.

I sat up with the sheet over my bare breasts.

Prophet shut the door then went over to his dresser.

“What happened?” I asked quietly.

Shaking his head as he rifled through the drawer, he explained it, “He sent a picture of my dad…” His voice trailed away as he turned to look over at me with jeans in his hands. “Then he sent instructions.”

“Like what?” I stood up and went over to where I left my pajamas.

“It’s crazy. He’s crazy! But I can deal with this change.”

Halting as I stared at him I asked, “What change?”

“It will all work out, Jewel.”

I kept staring at him. “Why aren’t you telling me what this change is?”

He had tugged his jeans on, then sat in a chair to put on his socks and boots.

“Prophet!” I quickly got out of bed and put my top on, then my PJ bottoms. “Why aren’t you answering me?”

“It changes everything.”

“You are not the kind of man to hedge around questions. Just tell me!” All kinds of scenarios went through my head. Me at some bus stop. Or some other dark place. Or a new threat to his dad that he didn’t want me to know about.

“He changed the deal.”

“Changed it?” I asked as I came closer. “How?”

“He wants me now,” he quietly admitted.

I raised my hands to my mouth. “No!” I exclaimed in panic. “Nooo.”

Stepping closer, he took me into his arms. “I know this upsets you but I’m relieved.”

I pushed at his chest with both hands. “Well, I'm not! He will kill you!”

“I’m sure the think tank downstairs will have a counter plan.”

“No…” I kept shaking my head as pure panic rushed through me. “He would have just raped me or toyed with me. But he WILL kill you!” I waved my arms in the air as I went out of control. “This cannot be happening. No…” Tears filled my eyes. “This is a death sentence for you Prophet. Pure and simple.”

He grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckles. “We will have a plan in place. I mean you were the one that told me to trust them. That they were my family.”

“I don’t care! There has to be another way!”

Nodding, he tried to calm me down as he caressed my cheeks with both hands, “And they will figure out a way.” He leaned in to kiss me briefly with a gentle smack on my lips. “I’ll be back.”

“Ohhh, no! Don’t you try that on me, buster.” I fumed. “I am coming with you.”

“Jewel—”

“Nope.” I pointed at my chest. “Full grown woman, remember? And this is still my business, buddy.” I poked a finger into his chest. “You are my man. So, I have the right to be there.” I marched to the door.

“Damn, you are so sexy when you're mad.”

I turned my head to glare at him. “This isn’t going to happen, Prophet. I didn’t just find the man meant for me...only to lose him to my psycho-stalker.”
