Skylar – Two Days Later
“Okay, seriously, I need you to give my son a second chance. I can’t keep losing time with my granddaughter!” Tiffany pouts, and I grin wide as I help Tate put her backpack on. She continues, “I mean, even now, I’ll only have her for an hour before she goes back to her daddy. It is just not fair.”
She says this every day when she picks up or drops off Tate when Fury is busy, and every day, I want to laugh because, despite her moaning, I can see the woman’s happiness.
After Fury’s bomb drop two days ago and knowing he hasn’t said anything to anyone, I’ve felt, I guess, lighter. He’s proving he can be trusted, which is scary, but Mama helped me understand why she told him so I could see how far he's willing to go for me, including keeping a secret from his club.
She spent the night at my apartment, waiting for me when I got home, with my laundry washed, dried, and ready to be put away as always. We spent the night watching movies and eating junk food while she tried to convince me to open my heart to the man who had broken it.
She doesn’t want to keep seeing me hurt.
“I would say I’m sorry, but then I’d be lying,” I say as Tate hugs my legs, and I gently run my fingers through her ponytail with a smile.
Tiffany sighs, “Can you please just forgive him already?”
I shake my head before I kiss Tate’s head, and I mutter, “I love you, sweetie pie,” and she grins, replying, “I love you too,” before hugging me tightly and then skipping over to her Grammie, whose attention is on me.
Damn, first Mama, then the girls, and now her. I can’t catch a break with people joining the ‘Forgive Fury’ train.
I sigh, knowing she won’t leave until I agree, so instead, I admit, “I’m trying,” and I am.
No one knows about Mama or our relationship, and they don’t know about my organization, so he’s trying to prove I can trust him, and it is working. He’s proving everything that I learned years ago, that he’s still the man I fell in love with, that everything he said he does and doesn’t like is still the same. I just…
It’s hard to put all my trust in him again, especially after four years of ignoring him, even with him giving me time with Tate most days after preschool, much to Tiffany’s dismay.
“All seriousness, Sky, he loves you a lot. He hasn’t been with another woman, he hasn’t even looked at one. You are his. You always have been, and when he wanted to propose, he –”
I gasp looking at her in shock as I cut her off, “Propose?”
He wanted to propose?
My heart pounds in my chest, my stomach tightening.
Propose…
Tiffany winces but nods and admits, “Yeah, sweetheart, he wanted to propose. it’s why he originally decided to tell you the truth that day, not wanting to start a marriage on a lie, but after he informed Brick he was outing him, something he was denying and threatening his patch for, Lacey announced she was pregnant with a smirk.”
Damn.
“I always wondered if she tried to trap him,” I mutter, and Tiffany nods and says, “She did, but what we got out of it was worth the pain, don’t you think,” as she nods to Tate and I nod because well that is true, well part of it is, the woman trapping him because Tate is amazing but all the rest, not so much. My pain caused me to lose our child…
Perhaps that is why I’m holding back and why I've been doing so for all these years. I still resent him, and I need to tell him what I went through so that he can understand.
“Knock, knock,” I hear, and we look to see Blade walking into my office, my receptionist biting her bottom lip behind him as she looks at his ass, and I roll my eyes.
Turns out, I can’t fire her for being flirty without gaining a lawsuit, so now, I’m looking at every little detail she does, but the problem is the woman is damn good at her job.
“Uncle Blade!” Tate squeals and rushes over to him, and he catches her with a grin as my phone beeps.
I get it out and huff, seeing it’s my group text.
My Girls- Ivy:
Incoming, Blade is on his way…. xx.
Another text pops up, and I smirk.
My Girls – Raya : Lock your door and throw away the key; those brothers are not to be trusted xx
