“The fuck did you just call me?” Draven asks with a confused frown.

Raven takes two large steps forward and grabs him by the collar of his shirt. “Fuckwit. Get in the back and stop being an asshole.”

Raven shoves him so hard he stumbles into the back door of the car. Jayden continues to glare at Draven but opens the door for me.

Finally. We can get moving.

Draven grumbles under his breath something I don’t quite hear and an “oof” sounds from behind me.

“Oops,” Raven says. “There isn’t a whole lot of elbow room back here. Sorry.”

She doesn’t sound the slightest bit sorry for what she’s done. I suppress a giggle. She will probably torture him the entire drive and an evil part of me loves her even more for it.

Jayden drives past the wards and ants crawl beneath my skin. I shiver. I hate passing through the wards. It’s torture.

“Um, guys?” Raven says, leaning forward between the seats. “Adrian’s having a vision.”

“Well, shit. We barely left the wards, what could he be seeing this close to the academy?” I chew my lip.

Jayden squeezes my knee with his free hand and glances at me. “Do we need to be ready for an attack?”

“We should always be ready for an attack outside the wards.” I lean my head back on the headrest.

Draven grumbles, “You guys are ridiculous. It can’t be that dangerous.”

He has no idea what he’s talking about. “Have you ever seen a monster before you went to the academy?”

“No, which is why you all exaggerated your travels last time.”

Raven must elbow him again because he growls at her. “Stop it, Raven.”

“Stop being an ass. We didn’t exaggerate. Everything we said happened, did. Why would we exaggerate?”

“To show off and make yourselves look good.”

I glare at him over my shoulder. What an idiot.

“I guess you’ll see then, won’t you?” I turn back to the front.

“Shit,” Adrian curses, startling me. “We need to take a detour.”

“Where?” Jayden asks.

“I saw Greyson with us on this mission. I think it’s important.” Adrian sits forward.

I glance at the full back seat with a pointed glare. “We don’t have room for a two-hundred-pound shifter, Adrian.”

Adrian waves me away like that’s not a concern at all. “Greyson will have a solution to that, but we have to hurry. He’s leaving for class soon and we won’t be able to catch him until tonight.”

“How long do we have? It’s a forty-minute drive down the mountain.” I fidget in my seat.

“I don’t know,” Adrian says.

“Well, that’s not helpful.”

Draven says, “If you guys hadn’t been screwing around all morning instead of leaving late, this wouldn’t be an issue.”

“If you don’t stop talking, I’m going to punch you in the face and zap you at the same time.” I glare at the idiot.
