He has no idea how distracting he really is, does he? “Yeah, you’re very distracting.”
“Good.” He stands from the bed and pulls me into his arms.
He crashes his lips to mine. I drop everything and wrap my arms around his neck as he deepens the kiss. His tongue dances along mine seductively. Jayden grips my ass hard, dragging me flush with his body.
“Can’t we just stay in bed all day?” he whispers against my lips.
“You know we can’t.” I sigh.
I take a step back, but Jayden doesn’t let go. This side of him is new but not unwelcome.
His hands flex against my ass and he groans as he steps away from me to grab his clothes from the floor.
“We’ll have time to be together. Right now, we just have to get moving.” I bend, grabbing my fallen clothes from the floor.
“Yeah, if Draven doesn’t try to block us,” Jayden says, grabbing his uniform pants.
“I’m not letting him in my head, Jayden. You shouldn’t either. He can only block us if we let him.” I head to my bathroom.
Jayden’s hand lands on my hip, startling me. I set my clothes on the vanity and turn to face him.
“Jayden, this is a bad idea. I need to take a shower and if you go in there with me, it’s going to take longer than it’s supposed to.” I slap at his chest playfully.
“Fine,” he grumbles. “I’ll go pack and be back soon.”
He walks out the door and I stare at his ass as he goes. Why did I have to be the responsible one? I would definitely rather he take a shower with me, but we have a timeline.
I go through the motions, turning on the water and letting it heat before I jump in the shower, washing my hair and body quickly.
Now that Jayden is gone, I want to hurry as much as possible so we can get on the road. It’s going to take a while to get across the country, especially if there are problems.
Who am I kidding? There are always problems.
No way in Hades are we getting across the country without being attacked at least once.
I turn off the shower and wrap the towel around my body before stepping out to get dressed for the journey. I refuse to wear my uniform if I don’t have to, so the dark wash jeans and blue tank are the obvious choice.
Once I’m ready, I stalk back into my closet and grab my duffel that I try to keep packed at all times for this specific reason and turn to the bedroom. Jayden is lounging on my bed with a smirk.
“Hey, baby. You ready?” He stands and grabs my bag.
He swings it over his shoulder and places a hand on the small of my back to lead me out the door.
“Let’s go get this over with,” I grumble.
Jayden kisses my hair and opens the door for me. I grin at him as I lead the way. He’s been so different since whoever is doing this tried to take me over.
We rush down the stairs and I hope we don’t run into anyone as we get to the lower floors. When we get to the Hermes floor, I duck behind Jayden, not wanting to have to deal with Draven again.
We pass their common room and head farther down the stairs with no sign of Draven, and I sigh in relief. I get at least a little more time without having to deal with his entitled ass.
Jayden pushes the door open on the bottom floor and the sun peeks between the trees cheerily, warming my skin.
The sky is clear blue for the first time in days. Was I wrong about the gods weakening affecting the weather? Was the unseasonable rain just a fluke? Or is there more rain to come and this is just the proverbial calm before the storm?
“It’s nice out for once,” Jayden says, peering up at the sky. “I’m not sure how to feel about that.”
He’s reading my mind.
