“I wouldn’t touch them unless you want them to wrap around you,” Kira says.
“Then how do we put them on Dax?” I ask.
She pulls out thick leather gloves similar to the ones on her hands and tosses them to me.
“That’s the only way to keep the magic from attaching itself to you,” Kira says.
She picks up the chains and walks to Dax. His blank eyes take her in.
“Let me go,” Dax roars.
“That is creepy as fuck,” Kira says with a shudder. “His eyes are like voids.”
“See? That’s how we know that isn’t Dax.” I turn to the healer with a raised brow.
“Just hold those chains for another couple minutes, Jayden,” Kira says as she steps closer.
This chick has balls of steel getting this close to an angry Dax.
“I’ve got them,” Jayden says, but his voice is gruff.
“Dax, you big idiot. What happened to you?” Kira shakes her head.
I turn wide eyes to Raven. Does the Hephaestus girl have a thing for Dax? How can we make that happen?
Raven tiptoes over to me and loops her arm with mine.
“Does she have a thing for Dax?” Raven whispers.
“I think so. How hard do you think it will be to get the two of them together?” I ask.
“I don’t think it will take much. She’s pretty and a bit of a badass. That’s Dax’s type for sure.”
“What’s going on?” Jayden asks and I jump.
I hold a hand over my heart and the other one I smack his chest with. “You scared me.”
“You two are whispering and that never brings anything good,” Jayden says.
“Our plotting always turns out well.” I plant a hand on my hip.
“Yeah? You mean the time you hung out the window to zap the evil pigeons went completely to plan?” Jayden asks with a raised brow.
“I got the fuckers, didn’t I?” I ask.
“Yes, and you were nearly ran over by my car in the process,” Jayden deadpans.
“Semantics. I still got them. I just had an unforeseen accident.” I stick my tongue out at him.
“Just tell me what you’re scheming over here.” Jayden crosses his arms over his chest.
“I think she likes Dax,” I whisper in his ear.
“That could blow up in your face. Don’t get involved.”
“But Jayden. I want to see my friend happy. I feel bad that I’m not into him and he’s like this.” I pout.
“Is that it, or are you hoping he will back off with the kicked puppy looks?” Jayden laughs.
