“We need to figure out a way that your growing power won’t set the dorms on fire,” Jayden says.
“I wonder if the shadow shield your father gave me will help?” I ask.
I reach for the necklace that holds the shadow charm and my lightning bolt charm. I haven’t gotten a chance to work with Hades’ gift yet.
Does it just give me a shield or is there more to it than that?
“We probably shouldn’t try messing with that indoors.” Jayden grabs my hand before I can rub the charm.
“You’re probably right.” I sigh.
Who knows what Hades gifted me with and what it could possibly do. It’s probably best to test it on the training field.
“C’mon.” I grab Jayden’s hand and lead him out of his dorm.
We trudge up the stairs to my floor and I grasp the handle before pushing my door open. The room itself is pretentious with gold everywhere to signify the king of the gods.
It’s so different from Jayden’s room. All light colors and gold trim. White marble floors gleam up at me and sconces with lit candles line the walls.
Jayden steps up behind me, his hands on my hips. “Do you still have the maps?”
“Yeah, why?” I ask.
I flip around in his arms and scrunch my brows down. I thought we were going to sleep. Why does he want the maps?
“I have a theory about this mission to find the mind-controlled students.” He shrugs.
I wait with a raised brow, but he doesn’t elaborate. “What’s the theory?”
“When the Hermes kids were kidnapped, we ended up being sent on a quest for your dad as well.” Jayden runs a hand through his hair. “What if there’s another god that needs our help?”
“That’s actually pretty smart. I wonder who?” I ask.
I step back from Jayden and move to my closet to grab the maps. We have mapped out some things in relation to where they could be in the US compared to ancient Greece.
We still have a lot to map out, though. It’s hard to decide where to start when we don’t have any idea who we need to help.
“My guess is Ares or Apollo,” Jayden says. “The first two were our fathers, so if I’m right, it will be either Adrian’s or Raven’s father next.”
“That makes sense.” I reach up into the back of my closet and grab the maps and carry them gingerly to my desk.
Setting the maps out on the desk, I grab my books and papers and set them on the floor next to it. I have no desire to move them off the bed later like I did the last time they cleared my desk.
I roll out the map on the desk and point to Winslow, Arizona. “That’s where Delphi is and I would think that’s where Apollo hid his item of power.”
“I don’t want to go back to Winslow.” Jayden leans over the map, his arm brushing mine.
“I don’t either and we will have to alert Tristian to our presence and hope he’s not a douche this time.”
“We saved him from the rhyming; he owes us,” Jayden says.
“Where would Ares hide his shield? I haven’t heard much about the war god in ancient history yet.” I suck my lip between my teeth.
“That’s because he wasn’t really mentioned by the ancients unless they were the warriors.”
Jayden reaches out and frees my lip from my teeth with his thumb.
“So, where were the warriors? Athens?” I ask.
