“C’mon, Raven,” Jayden rolls his window down, yelling at her.

“Gods, Jayden. One sec,” Raven growls.

She gives Greyson one more quick kiss before turning and opening the back door and slamming it shut behind her.

“Easy on my car,” Jayden grumbles.

“It literally had holes in it a few days ago. Me slamming the door isn’t going to hurt it worse than that.” Raven buckles her seat belt.

Jayden speeds off back to the freeway. “Let’s not tempt fate, yeah?”

I peer at the darkening sky. Just him saying that has me nervous that the evil fuckers will show up again.

“I just want to get to the entrance without any problems.” I grab the door handle in a white-knuckled grip.

Jayden nods grimly. “There’s something you should probably know about the entrance.”

“What?” I ask, confused.

What could possibly have him so nervous about the entrance to the underworld?

“It’s a strip club. Orpheus owns it,” he says with a grimace.

Adrian leans over the seats between us, raising a brow at Jayden. “You’re telling me that the entrance to the underworld is in a strip club? Isn’t that a bit cliché?”

“Orpheus has owned that building since LA was founded. He changes it up every couple decades and does something different with it. You can tell him how cliché it is when we get there,” he says with a dark chuckle.

“I really don’t think you should do that, Adrian,” I say, turning to him.

The last thing we need to do is insult the person who guards the entrance to the underworld.

“You’re right. I was just making an observation.” Adrian shrugs and sits back in his seat.

“Let’s try to keep observations to a minimum. I don’t want to piss off the people we need help from,” I say.

Jayden grunts, “For sure. That wouldn’t be a good idea, especially in the underworld.”

Good. This whole mission is going to be hard enough as it is without having to fight our way into the underworld. Monsters I can fight. Millennia-old guardians, I’d rather not.

LA traffic is horrendous. It takes us an hour longer than it should to get close to the entrance.

“What is that?” Raven asks, leaning forward in her seat.

She points to a red glow on the horizon that has me leaning forward as well.

“What the fuck? I know it’s LA, but I have never seen it glow like that.” I sit forward, peering out the windshield.

Does this have something to do with the demons escaping? I glance at Jayden. His knuckles are white the way he’s holding on to the steering wheel.

“I think that it most definitely does have something to do with the demons,” Jayden says with a grunt.

“Shit. What the fuck is happening out there?” I ask, sitting up straight. I flex my hand on the handle. Something is definitely wrong here.

Adrian gasps, “What are they doing?”

He points to the left. I lean over Jayden to see out his window. People are running away from something but it’s dark and all I see are shadows.
