“Nice try,” she taunts me, and I narrow my eyes at her.

She rushes forward, knowing that I’m weak with the whip on attacks close to my body.

I jump back fast and dodge to the side, flicking the whip out again.

“Fuck, bitch. Is that what you did to Dax?” she screams as the whip connects with her ankle, zapping her.

“You gonna tell me that he didn’t deserve it?” I raise a brow as I dance away from her.

“He definitely did, but fucking shit that hurt.” She holds up a finger before bending over and touching her ankle.

Adrian and Jayden jog up to us in the back of the clearing and by Jayden’s expression, he’d rather be anywhere but here. Well, I don’t exactly want him around either.

“I had a vision,” Adrian says to Jayden.

“About us?” he guesses as he crosses his arms over his chest.

“All four of us.” Adrian nods.

“You figured it out, then? Good because I had some whack dreams last night.” I sit down on the ground, resting because I have a feeling this is going to take some time.

Raven sits next to me, still cradling her ankle, and I smirk at her.

Raven flips me the bird. “Fuck off.”

Adrian shuffles impatiently. “I know why it was completely black the first time I had the vision. I don’t think it came from my abilities. It came from somewhere else.”

Jayden sits with his arms bracing him as he leans back on them. “Who do you think sent you the vision?”

“Hades,” Adrian whispers as if just saying his name will bring forth the god of the underworld. “The gods are weakening. It’s why the students are too, and Cross can’t contact Poseidon.”

“Well, fuck,” I whisper. My eyes widen and I turn to Jayden.

“Are you sure it was my dad?” Jayden stares Adrian down.

“I had the same vision. The only difference is there was a voice calling to Beth.” Adrian glances at me.

“Well, fuck. That sounds like my dream last night.” I lay back on the grass and place a hand over my eyes.

“What are we going to do?” Jayden asks. “It’s not like I can just waltz into the underworld with the living.”

“Have you talked to your dad lately?” I turn, peering through my fingers at him.

“I don’t exactly talk to him regularly,” he grumbles.

Raven shifts restlessly. “Cross said he hasn’t been able to contact his dad. We need to wait until we know more.”

“Agreed, though, if it was Hades asking me for help, he sounded desperate for someone to help him.” I chew my lip.

Adrian sighs. “I think we should wait and talk to the headmistress and come up with a plan.”

“I think that’s the safest option,” I agree, standing and brushing myself off, then reaching out to help Raven.

Jayden glares up at me from where he’s lounging in the grass. “You mean talk to her now?”

“If your dad is in trouble, don’t you think time is of the essence?” I raise an eyebrow at him.

Jayden huffs but jumps up from his spot and storms away. Class is almost over anyway, and this is important. I share a look with Raven and Adrian before trudging behind the broody asshole.
