If we have to go to the underworld to help Hades, we will be in Jayden’s domain. Gods help us then.

Dax runs out in front of us when we are heading to the headmistress office, and I nearly groan out loud. “Where are you going?”

“We are going to the headmistress. It’s important.” I dodge to go around him, but he steps in my way.

“Why? What’s wrong?” He glances between Raven and me.

“We need to go, Dax,” Raven barks at him.

She grabs my arm to try to pull me with her, but Dax steps in front of us again.

“Let me come. I can help.”

That is the absolute last thing I want. I don’t even want Jayden there. Adding Dax to the group would be disastrous.

Adrian stops ahead of us, turning to us impatiently until he realizes that Dax is in front of us, and he rolls his eyes.

“Not this time, buddy.” Adrian jogs over and claps Dax on the shoulder.

“Why not?” Dax folds his arms over his chest, glaring down at Adrian.

“My vision was clear, and you weren’t in it. Any variations could change the outcome. Do you want to be responsible for the gods weakening further?”

Dax scans all our faces before his shoulders slump, and he shakes his head. “Fine.”

I breathe a sigh of relief and jog with Raven and Adrian out of the clearing. Thankfully, Dax doesn’t follow us.

“Your brother stresses me out,” I say, glancing over at Raven.

“My brother is a moron.” She shakes her head.

We pick our way through the brush and over the roots of the trees carefully. Even though the dryads over here aren’t assholes like the ones by the teachers’ quarters, we still don’t want to anger them by damaging their roots.

The quad is empty when we break through the trees. Everyone is either in class or at training.

“It’s kinda creepy, like when the Hermes kids were missing.” Raven shudders.

While the Hermes kids were kidnapped, the halls were eerie and silent. She’s not wrong that the stillness of the quad is the same.

“C’mon, let’s just get to the headmistress’ office so we can come up with a plan. Maybe Adrian will tell us all that’s going on.”

We jog to the admin building where Jayden is waiting with his hands on his hips and glaring at us with impatience. “What took you so long?”

“Just a slight annoyance.” I flip my hair over my shoulder and move to pass him.

“It’s not very nice to call your boyfriend an annoyance,” he sneers.

“Thanks for the advice. I’ll try to remember that if I ever have a boyfriend.” I storm past him and open the large double doors, striding inside without a backward glance.

“You are such an idiot,” Raven whispers behind me.

I don’t slow my pace as I jog down one hallway to another before we are outside the headmistress’ office. Turning, I wait for everyone to catch up before knocking on the door.

Rebecca opens it and grimaces. “It’s always you three, isn’t it?”

“We are the most powerful,” I quip with a grin.
