Well, shit. They don’t even know we are here?
“This is fucking creepy,” Raven grumbles.
“It is very fucking creepy. It’s like they aren’t even there.” I shudder.
“It’s fucked up that we can see how they died too. The people in Elysium didn’t have that same problem.” Raven waves her hand in front of the woman’s face.
The woman ignores her and walks directly through Raven’s hand.
“Motherfucker, that was disgusting. What the hell?” Raven yells, jumping away from the woman and shaking out her hand.
Jayden turns to us with a glare aimed at Raven.
“You obviously knew that she couldn’t see you so what was the point of all that?” He shook his head in disappointment.
“C’mon, Raven.” I pull her away from the woman.
Adrian rolls his shoulders back and eyes Raven. “We need to have respect for the dead. It’s the only way we get out of here alive.”
That isn’t a creepy as fuck admission. I shudder.
“Just don’t touch any of them,” Jayden barks.
“Aye, aye, Captain,” Raven snarks, saluting his back.
I zap her again and she glares at me as she rubs her arm.
“Stop being a dick,” I whisper.
My shoulders stiffen at the sound of beating wings.
Fuck, the Stymphalian birds aren’t in the underworld, are they?
“What the fuck is that?” Adrian curses, pointing to three huge black birds flying right at us.
“Fuck,” Jayden screams and his shadows swirl around him, materializing his shield from thin air.
That’s new.
“What is it?” I ask.
“Furies and they don’t like me very much.” Jayden grimaces.
I scan the area but there is nowhere to hide.
The furies are gaining on us and the only thing we can do is stay and fight.

Jayden grabs me around the middle and throws his shield up over us. “Get down, they breathe fire.”
“What the fuck?” I ask as flames rain down on us and heat the shield, making me sweat.
There’s a hiss from above us. “What are the living doing in the land of the dead?”
“It’s none of your concern, Alecto,” Jayden shouts.
All three furies hiss and spit fire. I peek out the side of the shield, barely getting a look before Jayden pulls me back and fire pours down the shield like lava.
