Adrian steps forward, pulling his bag from his shoulder and retrieving a sack of gold coins, showing them to Orpheus. “I have them. Enough to go both ways if we need to.”
“What are they?” I ask, leaning forward to get a better look.
“They are drachmas. Coins from Ancient Greece. It’s the only thing Charon will take from demigods,” Adrian says.
He closes the small sack and places it back in his bag.
“Those are really cool. I hadn’t even thought about having to see the ferryman.” I shrug.
“And that is why this little mission of yours is reckless,” Orpheus snarls at me.
“Really? Because I think this is exactly why this mission will succeed. We have a team that thinks of things the others might not have.” I point a finger at the asshole.
I’m so done with his bullshit.
“Whether you like it or not, we are going. So why don’t you just shut up and let us go.” I open the door a little too roughly and it bangs against the wall.
“Beth,” Jayden says, exasperated. “You can’t talk to an ancient being like that.”
“Can’t I?” I spin on Jayden with a glare. “He’s wasting my time. We need to fucking go.”
Raven steps up next to me and crosses her arms over her chest. “She’s not wrong. I doubt Orpheus has been outside to see the fucking carnage. He’s got magic keeping his club untouched from the outside.”
Adrian glances between all of us with a frown. “They aren’t wrong.”
“Fine, but I need Jayden to open the gate,” Orpheus grumbles.
Finally. We need to get out of here. Every minute we waste, another human could die and we come one step closer to the Titans being freed.
We have to stop that, no matter the cost. The entire world depends on us.

Jayden holds up his hands. “We need to be quick. We don’t know if there are demons on the other side trying to get out.”
I pull my whip and my sword, letting my power loose into both weapons as Raven crouches beside me, her ax in hand.
“We are ready.” I nod to Jayden.
Orpheus claps a hand on Jayden’s shoulder. “I can’t go with you, but if Charon gives you any trouble, you know what to do.”
Jayden nods. “I’m gonna pull them back now.”
I square my shoulders as Jayden calls the chains to him.
I gasp, startled as the door rattles. “It’s gonna be a fight to get through.”
Jayden and Adrian hold the door closed until we are all ready. Raven and I inch closer. Jayden glances over with a nod.
“You two go first and Adrian will be right behind you. I’m going in last so I can pull the door shut with the chains and keep it closed,” he says with a nod to Adrian.
“On three,” I say, bouncing on the balls of my feet and tightening my hold on my weapons. “One, two… three.”
Jayden and Adrian let the door go and it comes flying open. A demon goes sprawling on the ground as Raven and I run through the gate.
I slash down at the demon sprawled on the ground with my sword and my electricity makes it explode into dust.
Raven jumps in front of me and with a powerful swing lobs the head off a demon, making him explode. “C’mon.”
