“We still don’t know who was ordering the Hesperides to take us out, Jayden. They are her servants,” I say, huffing out a breath.
“That is true and we don’t know who is behind the monsters and the missing items. It could be anyone.” He leans over me again.
My eyes glance down at his lips briefly but he catches the movement and smirks.
“We aren’t going to figure this out here. I will try to contact him when we get back to the academy behind the wards,” I say, glancing away.
Jayden pinches my chin, turning my head so I have to stare into his eyes.
“Can I kiss you, Beth?” he asks so softly I almost don’t hear him.
“You never asked before,” I mumble as he leans in closer.

I tilt my head back, offering my lips to him with a smirk.
“I don’t know,” I mumble. “Are you any good at it?”

I fist his shirt, pulling him closer as I groan at the sting.
