Jayden grins. “Fair enough, especially since we can guess what you’re missing already, even if you cannot.”
He turns to me for confirmation, and I nod.
There’s no way I want the gods’ items of power to end up in the wrong hands, especially if it’s someone like Hekate.
I look Ares directly in the eyes as I speak. “We accept that. I know we will be called to help you because whatever is going on here is bigger than us, and I think they moved all the gods’ items of power to the US and are hiding them from us.”
His eyes light with blue flames.
“My shield?” he roars and then blinks out of existence before our eyes.
“Umm, what just happened? Do we even know where we are?” I scan the room to see if there are any clues.
Jayden shrugs. “I think we’re still in Memphis, not far from the car. At least I hope he wouldn’t abandon us too far from the car. Ares probably went to check that his shield is where he left it and report to Zeus.”
“Okay, so let’s get out of here, but one thing… How are you going to get out of here with that shield without being noticed by humans?” I eye his huge shield.
“I have my ways,” Jayden says as he straps it to his back and releases his shadows to cover it.
“Neat trick. Let’s go.” I nod and walk to the door.
Outside is Graceland Mansion.
I furrow my brow. “What the hell?”
Jayden’s car is waiting for us.
Weird.
Raven follows me to the car. “Okay, let’s head to Nashville. Dad said we should stop there for the night and regroup. I think he’s right or trying to tell us something.”
“Let’s just make sure we check into a normal hotel and not anything with monsters.” I shake my head.
We don’t have a great track record with hotels so far on this mission.
“Let’s find a nice, normal hotel and then go hang out on Broadway for a bit,” Raven says excitedly, leaning between the seats.
“Shouldn’t we be resting for another day of travel?” I ask, but grin excitedly.
Broadway is legendary, and it would suck to drive through Nashville and not go to Music City.
“C’mon, Beth, you can’t tell me you don’t want to see Nashville’s nightlife,” Raven whines.
“Only a couple hours,” Jayden says softly.
Total traitor siding with Raven.
I roll my eyes at her. “Do you remember what happened the last time we went out? We got locked in the pack house because of wraiths.”
Greyson grins. “Hey, that turned out pretty well, I think.”
“Yeah, it really did.” Raven blushes.
Greyson is the only one who can make my badass warrior bestie blush, and I love it.
“Fine. I need to call Adrian first though.” My bag starts shaking again, and I roll my eyes as I grab the shell. “You enjoying the show, Adrian?”
“Not particularly, no. I don’t like being stuck here and not in the action,” he grumbles.
