“Okay, then let me introduce myself again. You saw the lightning. I’m guessing you can figure out who my father is. Nice to meet you. I’m Beth, daughter of Zeus, king of the gods.” I hold out my hand for him to shake.

I guess the information overload is too much for him because the man passes out, going down hard, and no one bothers to catch him.

Oops.

“Anyone have water so we can wash the shit off the street so it will stop crumbling?” Raven scans the area, but all the wolves are staring at their alpha on the ground.

“What did you do to him? Things really do look grim,” the same huge wolf says, and I grimace.

Yeah, I can see how annoying that is.

Raven groans. “How about you just don’t speak until we figure out how to stop Apollo’s magic?”

“Is someone going to wake him up?” I ask, pointing at the unconscious alpha. “We don’t want to be out in the open too long for obvious reasons.”

Greyson crouches next to the alpha, elbows on his knees, before bringing one hand back and slapping the man hard across the face.

Tristan’s eyes flash open. He starts to lunge for Greyson but stops and rubs his cheek. “You could have used a nicer approach when waking me.”

“I could say the same for the way you asked for help,” Greyson says with a grin. “Where’s the damn fountain? My mate and her friends need to get out of the open.”

“I thought we decided to call Adrian first?” Jayden says with a frown as he gets up from the ground and dusts himself off. “How did I get dead monster dust on me?”

“It rained down from the sky as that girl blew them high,” the huge wolf says, and we all groan.

“No talking, remember?” Raven scolds him. “I can see why you’re desperate.”

She nods at Tristan.

“We’re sitting ducks out here. I’ll call him on the way.” I walk around the car to get into the passenger seat when a thought crosses my mind. “Jayden, are you okay to drive?”

“Yeah, that stuff did wonders for my arm.” He nods, walking over to the driver’s side. “We’ll follow you.”

Tristan nods and gets into a car parked not far away. It doesn’t have any damage, so it must have been out of range of the bird shit.

I glance at the roof of Jayden’s car with a grimace. Some of the holes in it are still smoking from the poison. I sigh. We’re going to need to patch them up at some point. Jayden’s poor car might not make it out of this trip the way it’s going already.

“I think we’re going to need more duct tape,” I grumble.

Jayden flinches when he sees the roof. “It has to be done. It’s just a car. We just need it to get us where we’re going. I can get one of the Hephaestus kids to fix it when we get back.”

Raven snickers. “Are we sure that’s a good idea? You know how they like to tinker with things.”

“Hephaestus kids?” Greyson asks, pulling a face. “Isn’t he the one that was so ugly, his mom threw him off Mount Olympus? How does he have descendants?”

Jayden shrugs. “You would be surprised. He’s not ugly in the sense you’re thinking. He doesn’t have celestial beauty, so he was deemed ugly by the gods, but he just looks like a regular human guy. The queen’s vain.”

“That’s an understatement,” Raven mumbles.

None of us particularly care for the queen of the gods since she would take much joy in seeing me dead.

“That’s terrible,” Greyson says, leaning forward in his seat.

I pull the conch shell out of my bag as Jayden starts the car and follows Tristan out of the parking lot.

“Adrian, son of Apollo,” I say into the shell, and the air shimmers in front of me.

Adrian doesn’t seem confused by my sudden appearance at all. His dark hair falls into his eyes on his forehead as gray eyes that see too much stare into mine. He smirks at me.
