“We have a mind link. He comes when I call him as long as I’m not behind the wards of the school.” Jayden’s shoulders tense and his back straightens.
Is he upset about my near-death experience?
I’m sure if I hadn’t been terrified of dying, I could have thought of something. It all happened so fast.
“Because the wards would see him as a monster.” Raven nods.
Smoke huffs out of the horse’s nose, and he stomps a hoof.
“Hey, I’m not saying you’re a monster.” She holds her hands up in surrender.
“Let’s get the crowns and get out of here,” I say softly.
I really don’t care to be on this cliff any longer than necessary.
I stomp over to the cave and reach for the first crown, but they disappear in a flash. “What the fuck?”
“Maybe they went back to the muses?” Raven frowns as she moves toward me.
“Should I call them? I mean, if they didn’t get them, we are in fucking trouble.” I chew my lip, wringing my hands together.
Fuck, I hope whatever magic that just broke sent the crowns back to the muses, or we are completely screwed.
“Call them and see.” Jayden walks over and wraps his arms around me.
His eyes are haunted. I don’t blame him. That was terrifying.
I pull the shell out of my bag and peer at my friends with trepidation, but they all nod.
“Muses,” I say loudly.
The mist appears before me as I wait for them to answer me. They appear in the mist, dancing around with the feather crowns on their heads and giggling.
I breathe out a sigh of relief.
“They got their crowns,” I say, and the muse of dance turns to us.
“Daughter of Zeus. You have kept your promise. Your oath is complete.” She nods to me.
A weight lifts off me, and I grin.
“Thank you.” She wanders off, and I cut the connection.
It’s time to go find the Hermes students. If only we had any idea where to look.

“It’s almost dark, and we are no closer to finding anything.” I huff out a breath and sit on a fallen log, stretching my muscles.
This is ridiculous.
“This mountain range is massive. What are we supposed to do?” Raven growls, scanning the area.
We are sitting ducks out here for sure.
Maybe we should have brought Draven with us, but I doubt he would have, considering he got caught and taken to them on purpose.
