I grimace but hand over the card to pay.
Maybe there’s a foldout couch or something I can sleep on. One can only hope.
She swipes the card and gives us the keys to the room. “Thank you.”
We carry our bags over to the elevator and get in.
“Thank god we found a hotel that’s normal,” I say, slumping against the elevator wall.
“I know. We don’t have a great track record.” Raven frowns. “Now we have to go check out mythical activity on Broadway.”
“What do you think it is?” Greyson asks.
“I have no clue.” I shrug. “I guess we’ll find out though.”
“We need to be careful and stay together,” Jayden warns. “From what I’ve heard of Broadway, the bars can get really crowded.”
“Agreed. We need to stay vigilant.” I don’t like this.
I hate not knowing what I’m going up against.
We get to the suite, and I grimace at the couch. It looks about as comfortable as a boulder and too short for anyone to sleep on comfortably.
Jayden follows my line of sight and sighs.
“I’ll take the couch, Beth.” He shakes his head, putting his bags down.
“No, it’s fine. I’ll take it. You’re a lot bigger than me.” I shake my head.
We have had this same conversation before.
A small smile crosses his lips.
Is he thinking about how that conversation ended the last time we had it? My body heats up at the memories.
But then I remember why this is a bad idea, but the conviction just isn’t there anymore.
When did that happen?
“We’re both adults. We can share a bed without it getting weird.” I shrug and look away from him.
My cheeks heat.
“Are you sure, Beth?” Jayden’s hand burns through my shirt on my lower back as he leans forward.
He smirks as he stares down at my heated cheeks.
“Of course. We’re supposed to be resting and regrouping, and neither of us will be rested if we sleep on that.” I point at the stupid couch.
“Okay,” he says softly and squeezes my hip.
When did he move his hand to my hip?
My brain is a little fuzzy with his hands on me.
“Okay.” I walk into the bedroom and drop my bag.
“I’m going to shower,” Raven yells from the other room.
