“I figure we head toward Florida and see what happens,” I grumble.

It’s not a great plan, but it’s the only one we’ve got.

“I mean, the panhandle is about as southeast as you can get,” Raven agrees.

Now that it’s settled, we can continue packing, get to Greyson, and get on the road.

The floor for Hades is exactly what you would think of the god of the underworld. Lots of black, almost emo or gothic-style furniture. It really just doesn’t feel like Jayden at all though, but each floor reflects the godly parent, not the children who have to live there.

Raven shudders. “Like really, do there have to be skulls everywhere? It’s fucking creepy.”

I mean, I don’t disagree.

Jayden grimaces, walking into his room. “The skulls of Hades’s enemies.”

It’s black in here too, but Jayden has tried to bring a bit of color to it. His bed has a bright-blue comforter on it, and even though all his clothes are black, there are little splashes of color everywhere and not a skull in sight in his space.

It all makes me think Jayden is more than just a son of Hades, and that makes me extremely uncomfortable. I don’t want to think of him as more because it brings too many stupid helpless emotions into the mix.

“Let’s just hurry,” I say. “It’s getting close to sundown, and we need to get on the road as soon as possible.”

“It’ll just be a few minutes.” Jayden moves to the closet, grabs a bag from the floor, and shoves clothes inside.

I shiver as we leave Jayden’s floor. The skulls are really fucking creepy. I feel like there are eyes on me the entire time I’m leaving. Like Hades himself is watching me through the empty eye sockets.

My floor is completely insane.

There’s a mural on the ceiling that depicts the blue sky and all the fixtures are shiny gold that I am entirely convinced are real gold. The furniture is all white depicting clouds along with light blue tiled floors.

“I’m just going to get some things,” I call over my shoulder as I jog to my room. “Do we have any human money? We are probably going to need it.”

“We will most likely see Rebecca before we leave to get needed supplies,” Jayden replies, but I’m already in my room grabbing my duffel bag with my everyday clothes in it.

I never bothered to unpack it because we’re required to wear stupid uniforms.

“Okay, let’s go get Greyson and get out of here.” I’m not excited to go on this mission, but the faster we get out of here, the faster we get back.

Hopefully with all the Hermes kids who have gone missing.

“We can take my car,” Raven calls out when we get to the staff parking lot.

Only a few students actually have vehicles here.

“No, your car is uncomfortable,” Jayden says with a grimace. “We’ll take mine.”

Raven’s car is a little compact and doesn’t give the guys a lot of leg room. I don’t blame Jayden for wanting to take his own car.

“Fine, but no metal.” I shudder. “I don’t know how anyone can listen to that and actually call it music.”

He made me listen to that garbage after throwing my phone out the damn window on the way to the academy. It was pure and complete torture.

Jayden groans. “Fine. You can pick the music.”

He knows us too well, and if he doesn’t let us listen to what we want, we will complain for three thousand miles. Raven and I high-five.

When we get to Jayden’s car, a figure looms nearby.
