I’m trying to compose myself but it’s nearly impossible. He’s so shocked. “I didn’t mean to, Spence. I swear.”
“You play dirty and I’m not sure I like that,” he sighs dramatically. “My nipple really hurts.”
“Oh my god, you big baby. I barely did it. And to be fair, I was going for your arm, but you moved.”
He grabs the collar of his shirt, peeking into it. “It’s already bruising!”
“You are being so extra. There’s no way it’s already bruised.”
I watch as he lifts the hem of his T-shirt, exposing his very obviously unbruised nipple. “See.Bruised.”
Instead of calling him out again, I go along with it. “Oh Spence, I do see the bruise. I’m so sorry. You want me to kiss it better?”
His pout drops for a second before he quickly puts it back in place. “I mean, I wouldn’t say no to a kiss. It really does hurt.”
He’s joking with me because he’s seen my playful side. Spencer isn’t saying this in a manipulative way. Not how Chance would be treating this situation. Andthatmakes me want to be bold.
Which is why I get up onto my knees on the couch, lean in, and place the softest kiss on his nipple. I hear a small sound from the back of his throat and pull back to look at him. His cheeks are flushed.
“Does it feel better now?” I ask with false bravado.
Spencer can only nod, before he quickly gets up, excusing himself. I watch as he quickly walks down the hall into what I assume is his bedroom.
Did I make a mistake in doing that? Do I just get up and leave? Or wait for him to come out?
I contemplate it for so long that he ends up walking back into the living room. I stand up and walk over to him. “Spence, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cross the line.”
“Emmy, Buttercup. You didn’t cross a line.Trust me.I just needed a minute, otherwise I would’ve embarrassed myself.”
“Oh,” I feel my face heat. “Well, I’m glad I didn’t. But I think I should be going. I’ve taken up enough of your time and feel like a clown after what I did.” I gather up my trash. “Thank you for lunch.”
“You aren’t a clown. I’m the one who started this. You don’t have to go.”
“It’s okay. I’ve got some packets to look over for classes,” I say as I walk to the door. “Do you think we could start the car rides up again?”
“Of course. I was going to show up at your door Monday morning either way. I’ll be the one holding your coffee and cinnamon roll.”
Now the blush I feel burning on my cheeks is for a whole other reason. “Thanks. I’ll see you then, if not before.”
Cougar Callout
We are the only source in Charleston for all the lowdown on our city’s fledgling football team, and do we have some fresh hot gossip for you, our lovely readers.
It seems like there’s been quite the lover’s spat between resident hothead, Chance Collins, and his fiancée, Emmaline Jones. The two haven’t been seen out and about much in the last few months. But just today, Chance was seen going into a cafe in Charleston where he greeted his fiancée with a very steamy passionate kiss before joining her at the table.
What made this moment seem anything but a happy reunion between the pair you ask? Sources from inside the cafe said Jones appeared shocked to see Collins. With one source even stating that the pair were having a heated, hushed conversation that led to him grabbing her hand before she angrily snatched it away and snuck out back.
Is it splitsville for this fiery duo?
Until next time.

Spencer
Over the weekend, I missed a handful of calls from Bastian.
