Feeling the atmosphere shift entirely, I molded myself into the warmth of his loving embrace. At first, it was the comfort and love that made me feel safe from the dangerous vampire, but that ended as abruptly as it came. Now, I was consumed with the smell, the sound of blood pumping, the—
“No,” the alpha voice commanded, and I blinked to see my hands clenching Cole’s neck while my new, unwanted fangs were less than an inch from the vein they wanted.
I licked my parched lips. My God, I was a fucking monster.
“I need more,” I begged in a voice that didn’t sound like my own.
“You will wait,” Alpha Cole ordered. “You can fight this.”
But I couldn’t fight shit. I felt like I would die without more blood. My insides felt raw and empty. I needed blood to revive them again. I needed the warm, rich aroma of the fluid to surge into me, feed my dying organs, and give me the strength I needed to survive this feeling of a slow death I was suffering from.
“You don’t understand.” I gritted my teeth. “I’ll die without more. It wasn’t enough.”
“I understand completely. You’re a fresh-turned vamp,” Cole stated.
He wasn’t speaking to me as an alpha anymore, and the monster that woke in me knew it. A loud screech erupted from me as I plunged my fangs into Cole’s neck.
“You will not take our blood!” Cole’s alpha roared and shut the monster down just after my fangs entered his jugular.
I released him and threw myself away from him.Shit!I literally smashed into the wall across the room.
“What the hell happened?” My vision was vivid and crystal clear when I looked over to see Braden as he rested his elbows on his knees. He was weak and entirely out of it.What the hell did I do?
“Fucking witch turned her,” Cole said, holding his alpha voice.
“Tone it down some, asshole!” Braden growled. He stood, and the next thing I saw was my vampires in a vicious standoff.
“I’m not directing this shit at you, dickhead,” Cole said more calmly, holding his position in front of Braden who was as vamped out as Cole and ready to kill his cousin.
With Cole’s voice softer, the monster snuck up again. Braden looked at me, and I studied him, wondering why his blood was no longer the blood I wanted. It was tainted, and the scent was off-putting.
“Baby?” Braden looked at me, and then Cole. “What happened to her?”
“She’s a cursed vampire,” Cole said in a growl. He looked at me with that dangerous look again. The monster cowered after Cole’s fiery gaze went through me and directly to the monster who wanted him.
“I can’t control it,” I said. “Something inside of me is doing this.”
Braden ran a hand through his hair while Cole kept me pinned with his gaze. “What the hell do we do? Is it safe for her to feed? When did this start? I don’t remember shit!” he said in frustration.
“I don’t have any fucking answers right now,” Cole said through his teeth. “I’ve been saving your dumb ass while keeping Elle from attacking me.” He looked at Braden. “You don’t remember fucking her while she fed on you?”
“Last I remember she fell asleep in my arms watching TV.”
“Holy fuck!” Cole said, dropping the alpha and my monster snapping back into a full pursuit of him. “Damn it, ELLE!”
The monster silenced and stopped me midway on my way to my victim. I slammed into the ground and buried my face into my hands. “This monster only listens to you when you talk like that,” I managed to get out through sobs of frustration.
“No shit!” Cole kept the hard voice.
“Fucking great,” Braden said dryly. “Ellie, we’re going to have to try and restrain you until we can figure some shit out. Please tell me you’ll understand we’re not trying to hurt you.”
“God, chain me in a fucking dungeon. I almost killed you,” I said, afraid to look up at my vampires.
“Get the sigil-warded restraints,” Cole said. “I have to stay with her, or she’ll fucking take you down again.”
“Enjoy this alpha shit while it lasts,” Braden said, rushing out of the room. He was back in the same gust of wind, and before I knew it, my legs and wrists were in restraints while I was set comfortably on the couch.
“It’s happening again. I need your blood, Cole,” I begged.
