“Grass is one of the few things that don’t stress me out,” I shrugged.
“Good because the blanket’s pretty big but I don’t know how much attention we’ll pay to it.”
“You brought more than one condom, right?” I asked, double-checking the one I stuffed into my pocket earlier was still there and it was.
“Always,” he nodded. “One is never enough. Food or kissing?”
“Kissing, I think,” I said and scooted closer so that I closed the space between us.
Cobalt’s scent filled my head, and I let it go straight to my libido. All journalist jokes aside we were alone in the woods, and I had no reason to hold back. His tongue met mine halfway and I sighed into the kiss as my mate’s warmth spread all over my body. I kicked off my shoes while our tongues danced between our mouths.
“Less clothes. Less fake fur,”my wolf growled into my thoughts.“Less. Less. Less.”
“Burn them all!”Cobalt’s dragon murmured back to him.
It wasn’t like our clothes got in their ways now that our mating link was wide open. Still, we stripped each other naked under the dim light of the rising moon as we kissed. Then I traced the warm, chiseled contours of his chest and abs not only with my fingertips but with my tongue, committing the path of his body to my memory. He kept interrupting me part way through and pulling me back up to kiss again. He tasted so good, warm, and sweet and his hands traveled over my body as if they’d made the trip a million times before.
Soon he was between my legs and patting around for his pants. I grabbed mine first and whipped out the condom, feeling like some speedy magician putting on a show. I started to tear it open with my teeth.
“Nope, give me that,” he snatched it away. “We do not open condoms with our teeth unless we want babies. Sure, it might be fine, but it also might not be.”
I blushed at being scolded.
“Sorry, habit. Look, I’m used to taking all the precautions to not knock someone up. Believe it or not, there are people out there that wanted me to knock them up whether I wanted to or not. The whole Moonscale thing. I know everyone rips at them with their teeth, but it can defeat the purpose.”
“I’m sor—”
“I should’ve handled that better,” he frowned.
“Don’t do that. Don’t get all in my head about it,” I said and bit my lip.
“You weren’t thinking because you’re hard and you’re slick and everything inside of you wants what we’re doing. I get it. I do too but I also promised not to get you pregnant and that’s something I take seriously. We’ll have all the babies you want once we’re ready but for now – no biting the condoms.”
“Yes, sir,” I managed a grin. “I guess I’m lucky I never ended up pregnant then.”
“You’re on birth control,” he said, matter-of-factly. “I can smell it. That probably saved you a bunch too.”
He tore open the edge and asked if I wanted to put it on him.
“I’ll just enjoy the show,” I said, leaning back with my arms behind my head.
Cobalt made it look like a science inside of just gloving up a dick. He moved slowly and precisely, double-checking every inch of it as he went.
“All good,” he glanced at me a second later.
“How can you think straight right now?”
“I’ve had lots of practice,” he shrugged.
“Me too but—Well, maybe not as much as you but that’s only because people give me anxiety. It’s not like I could just tape their mouths and use their dicks.”
“Maybe one day,” Cobalt laughed and leaned over me to give me a long, slow kiss.
I blushed but didn’t have time to think of a retort before my mate tapped my legs further apart and settled in between them as we kissed. I ran my fingers over his back and shoulders, wanting to touch every inch of him I could reach. He paused for a second and raised his head as if he heard something.
“Bone coke?” I whispered.
“A deer by the smell of it, I think,” he whispered back to me.
