I stand there awkwardly after knocking when no one seems to be in a rush to answer.
In the end, I reach for the handle and push it open.
"Hello?" I call into the house, the low beat of music from the living room filtering down to me.
A familiar face walks out of the kitchen to see who it is, and Colt's eyes go wide the second they land on me.
"Oh shit, girl. You're brave."
His words hit me like a truck and cause a wave of nerves to wash through me.
"W-where are they?"
"Follow me."
I do as I'm told and trail after him toward the living room. But when he walks straight into the room, I hover in the doorway.
"Luc, Lee, you've got a visitor."
Oh God.
They both turn their eyes on me, and I swallow, trying to force down the lump that's suddenly appeared in my throat.
Their faces harden the moment they realize it's me and their eyes narrow. Their actions are almost simultaneous, and if I weren't so nervous, I might find it funny.
The room falls silent, clearly the team knows what happened last night and are as curious as the twins to hear the explanation. I take a step back when they stand and take a step toward me.
They approach me but barely look at me as they march into the hallway. I assume they want me to follow, so I go down to another door which they walk through and drop down onto the two couches.
I look around at the den with the huge flat screen on the wall and multiple game consoles beneath.
I don't realize how much time has passed until Luca barks, "So?"
Standing with my back to the now closed door, I look him in the eyes. Although it's the last thing I want to do when I notice how furious they are.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have disappeared like that."
"Fucking right you shouldn't, Let. We were going out of our fucking minds. Then Ella calls with some bullshit about seeing an old friend. That's not you Letty, you don't just do that."
"I know, I'm sorry. I'd been drinking and—"
"It was him, wasn't it?" Luca spits, cutting me off.
My mouth waters as my hands begin to tremble. I knew coming here that I couldn't lie to them, although I have zero intention of telling them about Victor, I knew I needed to confess about Kane.
My lips part to answer, but no words come out. Apparently, that's all Luca needs though because he stands, slamming his palm down on the unit beside him, making me squeak as I jump in fright.
"Luc, calm down," Lee pleads.
"She left, for him," Luc seethes. "For that fucking asshole. Jesus." He rubs his hand down his face, anger coming off him in waves. "What the fuck are you doing, Let?"
"It's complicated," I whisper.
"No, it's a fucking train wreck is what it is. He's a fucking cunt, yet you keep running back to him time and time again. Don't you remember how he treated you the last time?"
"Yeah, but I—"
"No. This is fucking ridiculous. I can't keep watching you do this to yourself."
