I pressed my lips together, trying not to laugh at his insult. He smiled back at me, watching my mouth twitch with amusement.
“Ili feya, das seki,” he said.
“That’s what I said.”
“Not quite. But… I love you, too.”
His expression didn’t change, but his color did. Light purple pulsed into a pale white that then fluttered into a mix of fuchsia and gold.
“What’s that mean?” I asked, referring to his color.
“It means I want to take you to my rooms, tie you to the bed, and ravage you again and again to the sound of those words coming from your mouth.”
My brows shot up with surprise.
“Oh.”
His thumb stroked my cheek again. “Innifer, I don’t have answers to anything. I wish I did, but I don’t.”
“Come on. No one does. It’s not like I’m asking you what’s at the center of the universe,” I scoffed.
He hesitated again, combing his fingers through my hair. “I don’t know what’s at the center of the universe. But I know you’re the center of mine and that’s all that matters.”
There wasn’t a single part of me that thought I’d find a partner in space when I left Earth. Not one part of me. And now I was with Vahko. Reality took a wrong turn and completely abandoned me because I was in a whole different realm. One that was better than anything I could have imagined. One I never wanted to leave. And now, it appeared I didn’t have to.
