Like a dark angel from above, he watched, the cocky grin on his lips faltering. “I need to fuck you.”
“My mouth,” she panted, finding her voice. “You promised.”
Ripping her from the table, he set her on the floor. “A promise is a promise.”
Before even gaining some sort of bearings, Jamison was clawing at his pants to get them down, and when his throbbing shaft broke free, she sighed in rapturous delight.
“I’ve missed this.” Rubbing her lips and cheek over every familiar ridge and dip, she wrapped her fingers around his thick base to stroke as she swirled her tongue greedily over his tip. “No one else can have it.”
Above her, Liam shuddered. “I hope you’re ready for what I’m about to do to you.”
She didn’t reply, drawing him into her mouth. Whatever he planned to dish out, she would take. She owed him that. She owed him his revenge.
But on the up slide, his hands seized the back of her head, locking her in place. “Hold my hips.”
Unsure of what he was going to do, her eyes rolled up to his, but she did as he demanded, remaining perfectly still as he pulled her hair into a ponytail.
With her long platinum mane wrapped around his hand, he dragged her mouth nearly off his cock before slamming it back down again. He was careful, knowing exactly how deep to go, and when the muscles in her throat contracted, she fought not to gag, craving the burn until her eyes watered.
“Fuck me, that’s beautiful.” His other hand dug into the back of her head, holding her in position as he thrust. Small, forceful movements torob her of air. “I’m going to use you until I can’t feel this damn emptiness any longer.”
Needing it as much as him, she pushed and pulled at his hips, encouraging a faster pace. He might be holding her in a position that gave little movement, but she would use what power she had to show him how much she wanted this.
“Oh, you like the idea of me using you?”
He yanked her back so she could answer. “Yes.” Heaving oxygen in and out, she nodded. “And I want more.”
A guttural snarl tore from his lips, and he dropped to kneel with her. “I can’t do this.” He cradled her face in his hands. “I can’t do this and not know. I thought I could, but I can’t ignore it. Tell me. Tell me why you left me.”
Unbalanced by the sudden change, she didn’t have time to tap down the emotions running through her. The tears came first, the sweat on her skin chilling as the fear over what needed to be said lit up inside her soul.
Covering herself, she crumbled into a heap on the floor, unable to stay upright any longer. The stabs of sadness she had so carefully concealed came rushing to the surface in tiny manic bubbles, bursting like needles under the skin.
“I’m so sorry.”
In her ball, she swayed back and forth, crying out the pain she never permitted to leave. It was hers to hold. Hers to keep from him so he wouldn’t feel it like she did.
A piece of clothing draped over her back, and she sucked in a ragged stream of air. Catching his scent, she realized he had removed his shirt to drape over her naked body.
“I ruin everything.” Over these last six months, she had been able to distance herself. Like the whole life-changing thing had occurred to someone else, and she’d been an outsider looking in. “I can’t do anything right. I can’t even do the most basic… I ca-can’t…”
Thesting of memories hit, and dots appeared before her eyes, obscuring the cream carpet. It was all she could do to stay conscious, but when two brown eyes appeared, she used the concern in them to keep steady.
“Stay with me.” Liam picked her up and settled them on the couch. “You’re scaring the shit out of me, Jamison.” He smoothed the hair off her face. “Deep inhale. Do it with me.”
Following his lead, she sucked in air, pure relief overcoming her when it came. Keeping her eyes on his lips, she did it a few more times, syncing her breathing with his.
As she calmed, he helped her slide into his shirt, bundling her in it so she wouldn’t feel so vulnerable.
“Did you know when he tried to take me, I wasn’t scared?” Her mouth scrunched, twisting to the side. “The entire time, it was your voice in my head keeping me calm.”
“Because you knew I would come.” He was shaking, as unsteady as her. “I’ll always come for you, Jamison.”
“I’m so sorry.” Lying her head on his chest, she let him hold her. It was probably the last time, so she wanted to savor it. “I should have told you everything before now.”
Chapter 37
Rooted firmly in Liam’s lap, she fixed her gaze on the corner shelf. Overflowing with Dee’s porcelain animal collectibles and a hefty batch of family photos, it reminded her of something that should belong at Haven House.
