Tamika’s head fell back and came with a keening cry that filled the bedroom. A sound that was raw, loud, and uninhibited—like a firecracker bursting into flames. She lost all control, her hips pumping quickly, grasping onto each ripple of pleasure that spread throughout her body. She reveled in the ecstasy of the orgasm. Grabbing the mattress. Grabbing him.

Beside her head, the fingers of Anton’s left hand gripped the rumpled sheets as he came, and he froze for a second before he shuddered through his climax and collapsed on top of her. Both of them groaning. Both of them depleted. Both of them satisfied—again.

Anton rolled onto his back, shoving air in and out of his lungs.

Tamika was breathing hard, too, as she stared up at the ceiling fan.

“I knew it,” she said.

“Knew what?”

She smiled as she turned to look at him. “It’s always the quiet ones.”

Tamika slowly awoke and glanced at the man in her bed. Anton was still asleep, turned on his side toward her, softly snoring.

They’d had sex, not once. Not twice. But three times.

She was exhausted. Happy. Happily exhausted.

Smiling to herself and biting her bottom lip, she stared at him. Up close, she saw the lines in his lips, the shadow of a beard starting to appear, and the wispy length of his lashes touching his cheeks. His skin was a little dry, but she could fix him up with one of her homemade masks, if he’d let her.

Probably not. Some men were weird about skincare. Calvin, for sure. She’d tried on several occasions to get him to take better care of his skin, but he’d accused her of trying to turn him into a metrosexual.

Leaning toward Anton, Tamika took a whiff of his skin. Sensitive to smell, she infused many of her products with pleasing aromas, so a good smelling man was a bonus. And Anton smelledgood. How does someone smell so good first thing in the morning, especially after a night of sex?

The lack of sex with Calvin didn’t explain why she was so horny or explain why she wanted to snuggle with an almost stranger. She ached to brush her fingers over his skin but didn’t dare because she didn’t want to wake him. Instead, she eased from the bed and slipped on her robe, padding into the bathroom so she could be alone with her thoughts.

Last night had been crazy. First the confrontation with Calvin, and then the sex marathon with Anton. She shivered a little as she thought about their night together but wasn’t naïve enough to believe their lovemaking was anything more than two broken-hearted people trying to feel better. She was on the rebound and so was he. That was the only explanation for what had happened between them, but she didn’t regret it.

“What are you looking at?”

“You,” Anton answered.

He sat on the side of the bed with the sheet covering his nakedness from the hips down. Tamika had come out of the bathroom seconds before and stood in the doorway looking sexy as hell in a white silk robe.

“Like what you see?” she asked, lips twisted into a tantalizing smile.

“Definitely.”

Anton’s gaze moved languidly down her petite and curvaceous body. Her short hair had been brushed neatly back from her face, vastly different from the spiky disarray he’d created by running his fingers through the soft strands last night. The robe clung to her as if it had been painted on, revealing the swell of her soft breasts, the peaks of her nipples, and the roundness of her hips.

Licking his lips, Anton relived her taste, while his olfactory sense reminded him of how she’d smelled—the delicate scent of her skin contrasting with the muskiness at the apex of her thighs.

His adductor muscles tightened a smidge as arousal spiked in his blood. Three times hadn’t been enough. He wanted her again.

Before he could express his thoughts and talk her back into bed with him, a phone rang. Anton looked around. “Is that me or you?”

“I think that’s you,” Tamika replied.

He stood and rummaged through the pile of clothes on the floor until he found his slacks with the phone tucked into the pocket. Instead of answering, he glared at the screen. Melissa was calling, and he didn’t want to talk to her. But he had to, because she was probably calling about coming to get her belongings.

“Hello?” Holding the phone between his ear and shoulder, Anton tugged on his boxers. The whole time, he could feel Tamika’s eyes on him.

“Good morning,” Melissa said. “I, um, I’m calling because I wanted to see if I could come by in thirty minutes to get my clothes and everything.”

“That’s kind of short notice,” he pointed out.
