I trailed off as my eyes clocked several things at once.
One: my oldest brother was naked with his dick in his hand.
Two: His computer monitor was displaying an equally naked man.
Three: I really should have knocked first.
“Axel!” he bellowed. “Get the fuck out!”
“Sorry, man! But also, good for you.”
“OUTTTT!”
Banshee had already fled the scene. Smart dog. I closed the door, calling back, “You could have locked the door!”
“Fuck off!”
I laughed all the way down the hall until I reached the kitchen.
Dalton raised an eyebrow at me. “Everything okay?”
I grinned. “You know? I think it is.”
Had I walked in on anyone else, I might have spilled the details. I might have laughed at their getting off to a camboy. But this wasHolden. I wasn’t even sure my poor brother could get himself off, much less do it with another person—even through a screen.
Dalton and I were most of the way through our bowls of chili when my oldest brother merged, a sheepish expression on his face.
“Hey,” he said, voice guarded as he flicked his gaze at Dalton. “How’s it going? Did you actually arrest Dallas?”
“Sure did,” Dalton said, sounding pretty damn satisfied.
“Couldn’t have happened to a bigger asshole,” I said cheerily.
Dalton nodded. “It was a good day.” He glanced at me, smiling warmly. “In more ways than one.”
“Dalton is the sheriff now,” I told Holden.
“Really? Congrats, man.”
He nodded. “Thanks. But I was talking about the fact your brother told me he loved me.”
Holden’s brows raised. “No shit? Well, it’s about time.”
I slugged Dalton’s arm. “Don’t be telling him that crap. You’ll ruin my rep as the hard-ass around here.”
“Time to pass the mantle, darlin’,” Dalton said, unfazed by my pouting. “Your youngest brother can take over troublemaker status. You can be my sweetheart.”
I groaned. “Darlin’ was bad enough. Now, you’re going with sweetheart?”
He grinned. “My little scrumptious pumpkin?”
I scowled. “Fuck off, Sheriff.”
Holden chuckled. “Okay, well, I just came out to say good night. You two try not to kill each other. It won’t look good for the sheriff.”
“I’ll just have to find another way to punish him,” I said darkly.
Holden nodded once, eyes on me. “And about what you saw…”
