I hold my hand out.
She drops her eyes and hesitates just a moment before she sets the fruit on my palm.
I can’t help myself. I put it between my teeth.
The need to consume anything that’s been in her tempting-as-fuck mouth is too much to deny.
And this girl inspires me to indulge.
Movement has me turning my head, and I watch Diego step out of the kitchen, two plates in his hands. “Jessie, what table for the burgers?”
I follow where he’s looking and spot Jessie at the other end of the bar, making a round of mixed drinks.
She lifts a brow as she tips her head in my direction. “Those are forLuther.”
She says my first name with emphasis.
No one calls me that.
I’m not even sure Diego knows it’s my real name.
That suspicion is confirmed a moment later.
He turns my way and glances around. When I’m the only man he sees, a look of confusion crosses his features.
Before he can askWho the fuck is Luther?, I drop the lime on the napkin with the other ones and hold my hand out. “Thanks, Diego.”
I can sense the question he’s dying to ask. But he just hands me a plate.
Then he glances over at my feminine companion, and his mouth splits into a wide grin.
I set the plate in front of Kendra and hold my hand back out for the second.
“Anything else I can get for you or your friend,Luther?” His tone is filled with entertainment.
I reach out and graze my fingers against Kendra’s elbow, catching her attention. “Need anything?”
She rolls her lips together, shaking her head before turning to Diego. “Looks perfect.”
I didn’t think it was possible for him to grin any wider, but Diego does. “That’s what I like to hear. You two enjoy.”
Then the bastard winks at me.
I roll my eyes as Kendra snickers beside me.
“He’s a pain in the ass,” I sigh.
Kendra smiles. “I dunno, I think he’s cute.”
I narrow my eyes. “Eat your food.”
My sister says the same thing about Diego, thathe’s cute. But she also says he’s a player and more family than dating material. Which is good. Because if one of my employees got involved with my sister, I’d have to cut their hands off.
Kendra’s humor doesn’t fade as she places her hand back on my knee.
I let her push my legs apart, un-trapping hers.
Untangled, we both face forward. But our stools are still close enough that our elbows bump together as we reach for our food.
