"Suspected, but not confirmed."

"What do you know?"

He says, "She's missing, along with her driver and car. The trailing car carrying her security detail lost sight of them in a traffic jam. They didn't discover she was missing for an hour."

"Fuck! A goddamn hour? Are you fucking kidding me? She could be anywhere."

"The FBI in New York has been called in, and they are searching for her car. It won't take long with all the video cameras to learn what happened."

"I'm flying to New York."

"Foxtrot has already arranged a flight for you. Rocket pulled the plug on the current ops. We will find her, Hammer. Don't worry."

"Roger that."

"One more thing. Logan's last transmission was to her mom's cell. It read Find Jack."

"She's in fucking trouble, man. I have to get to her."

"Copy that. Out here."

I listen to my former in-laws' message. Bette's voice is high-pitched as she rattles to someone in the background. Banks' deep voice is controlled calm when he speaks. "Jack, this is Banks Tisdale, Logan's father. …Sorry…. I know you know who I am." He pauses again and takes a deep breath. "We received a text from Logan to find you. She's in trouble. We believe she's been abducted. I don't know if you have followed her career, but she wanted us to contact you. If you would, would you please call me back? Thank you."

I hit redial as I trot back to the helo. When he answers, I know I won't be able to hear him, but time is ticking, and there is nothing to say except, "Banks, Jack here. I'm on my way to you. I'm in Nevada. I'll text you my arrival time. Please text any updates you receive."

I disconnect the call and climb up into the cockpit, strap back in, put my helmet on, and bring Dirk up to speed as he flies like a bat out of hell to the airport.

I text Crockett and Nina in a group text.

Did not listen to your voice messages.

Spoke to Insane.

Logan’s father called too.

He will update me with any news.

Crockett responds with assurances that the team has my back.

Dark Thirty is on it.

Will update when

he finds the car.

Insane is notifying

the FBI that

this is our case.

Ambassador is catching

the next flight.
