Page 10 of Meaner Than Evil

She will be our liaison.

The rest of us will be ready

to rein down hell on the bastards ASAP.

Roger that.

I close my eyes and will my woman to hang on.

Logan, be brave, baby.

When we arrive at McCarran International Airport, I jump out, grab my rucksack, and sprint to the FBO private terminal. A woman in a flight suit greets me. She has a smear of grease on her face.

"You must be Hammer." She states, "My name is Easy. Come with me."

I follow her back out to the tarmac, and she explains. "Hardcore is fueling his jet for you. It'll take you to LaGuardia, drop you off, then return here to be on standby for the team."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. I hope you find her."

"Oh, I'll find her. I just hope she's still alive when I do."

"Copy that." She nods.

My phone vibrates. It's Nina.

The jet taxis out, and I trot over. I jump on the stairs before they fully deploy and am in a seat, ready to go before they can retract them.

The pilot cues the mic as he taxis out onto the runway. "Hammer, this is Mike Morris. We will get you to New York City as fast as we possibly can."

The flight attendant buckles in and gives me a head nod as we take off. Once we reach altitude, he unbuckles and introduces himself as Pete, then offers me something to eat.

"We have Parmesan Chicken and Porterhouse Steak."

"I'll eat both. I'll need a full tank of fuel."

He nods, then goes to prepare my meals. When he returns with them, he sets them on the tray, and I eat every bite. As he clears the empty plates away, he offers. "We have dessert if you would like."

I shake my head. "Not yet. Fifteen minutes before we land. I'll eat three. Doesn't matter what."

"Yes, sir."

There is nothing to be done at the moment but rest and be ready when I arrive. I recline the seat and close my eyes. I hear the flight attendant pulling the cabin shutters down. I clear my mind to recharge, but instead, my mind works the problem.

Looking down on Logan, fast asleep, I hate to disturb her. She looks like an Angel lying there in the white sheets. Her dark brunette hair, soft pale skin, big eyes framed with dark arched brows, and lips that are a natural cherry red color. She is so strikingly beautiful, and she sleeps so peacefully.
