“Did I mention how humble he is?”
I laugh. “I look forward to dinner, more than ever.”
“Fabuleux! Come.”
We follow him to a small table that is right in front of the window, giving us a street view, and he pours us both a glass of wine, and then it’s just us.
“What do you think?” Sean asks.
“It’s beautiful, and he’s hilarious.”
“He’s a great guy. But enough about him and everything else.” Sean lifts his glass. “Tonight is about us.”
I do the same, and the delicate glasses clink. “To us.”
We both take a sip, still staring at each other over the rims. He looks at me as though I’m every reason he draws breath. Here we sit in a small restaurant after flying on a private jet. Nothing seems real, but if it’s a dream, I really hope I never wake up.

“Here, take a bite.”
I close my lips around the fried dough and moan in delight. “Whoa.”
“Right.”
“It’s amazing.”
“You have some sugar,” Sean says, but when I lift my hand, he swats it down. “I’ll get it.” He brings his lips to mine in a sweet kiss that has nothing to do with the dessert.
After a minute, I pull back with a grin. “I think you got it.”
“I had to be thorough.”
Dinner was great, we talked about his plans with baseball, some of his friends, and how much I like working for Sydney. I could see the questions in his eyes, but thankfully, he didn’t push me.
The evening has been nothing short of magical.
“Before we head back to the airport, I wanted us to walk for a bit.”
A few people are standing around, whispering and staring at Sean. “Is this normal?” I ask.
“What?”
I jerk my head toward the crowd. “They’re all staring.”
He shrugs. “Yeah. You get used to it after a while. I’m young, been in the papers, and apparently, am a very eligible bachelor.”
Oh my God. “So, it’s because you’re hot?”
“You have to stop complimenting me, Shrimpy. If you don’t, I’m going to ravish you right in front of all these people, and we’ll be in the papers.”
I push him away, unsure if he’s joking. “Stop.”
“I find you irresistible when you tell me how hot I am.”
“I didn’t say you’re hot.”
He tilts his head to the side. “No? Because if I remember you said: ‘It’s because you’re hot.’”
