Eric tilts his head and a spark flashes through his dark eyes.

“Good to know.”

Iwalk over to Jake in the kitchen as he’s pouring himself another glass of wine. “Have you told him?”

“Not yet.” He turns at the exact moment Mila lifts her eyes to meet his.

“I don’t like this.”

“Well, you’d better start liking it.”

“I can’t pretend I know nothing while you two are batting your eyelashes at each other,” I say to Jake.

“As if you weren’t doing the same thing.”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” I ask.

“I’ve noticed, you know. The way you look at each other.”

“Give it a rest!”

“You’re not as innocent as you’d like me to believe, my dear friend.”

“You’re sleeping with his sister. I’d say that’s a hell of a lot worse, wouldn’t you?”

“I’m not sleeping with his sister. There’s much more between us.”

“As if you weren’t just a dickhead!”

“Hey, hey, watch your words. I’ll remind you that, until you laid eyes on our professor, you used to go around having your fun, too…”

“That’s not true.”

“So you didn’t use to fuck anyone who walked past you?”

I glare at him. “They were flings. And trust me, everyone was always in agreement. No one ever complained because I didn’t call them back the next day. And while we’re being honest, I didn’t always sleep with them.”

“You think that makes things better?”

“You have to tell Sean the truth.”

“I will. When the right moment comes along.”

“Soon. I don’t want any secrets with him.”

“Oh, really? There are no secrets between the two of you?”

“I’m this close to giving you a black eye.”

“And to think you didn’t even like him!”

“How can I not like someone I didn’t know?”

“So you admit it.”

“What?”
