My easy smile drops in an instant as Ty looks up from under his lashes at me.
“What do you mean?” I ask carefully, unsure of what he knows.
He cocks his head to the side but doesn’t say anything. I swallow roughly, hoping he will drop it. Some piece of me wants to get it off my chest, though. I want to tell someone, vent, spiral. I don’t know, but before I can properly think this through, I’m word vomiting.
“We hooked up, twice. I went to a sex club for my friend’s birthday, and it’s masked, so no one knows anyone’s identity. We went into a room together, not knowing who we were, and had sex. Then he invited me back, and we fucked again, and that’s when I figured out that I had just fuckedmy ex-stepdad, and I’ve been low-key freaking out about it, and I don’t know what the fuck to do.”
My erratic rambling comes to a quick pause as I glance at him, trying to gauge his reaction. His eyebrows are practically in his hairline, his mouth slightly parted, and eyes round with surprise. Maybe he didn’t expect me to give him that much information. Or maybe he’s just shocked and disgusted about the act itself.
“Where did you two leave things?” he asks carefully.
I frown at his question. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, are you two, like, together now or?—”
“No! God, no. It was a mistake. A really weird, fucked up mistake.”
“Then why did he come on this family trip that he hasn’t attended since he and your mom split three years ago?” he challenges.
I throw my hands out at my side in disbelief.
“I don’t know. When I found out it was him, I walked away. I never expected to see him again. Then he just…showed up here. He agrees that it was a mistake, and we are both trying to forget it ever happened, but things are just…awkward now, I guess.”
Ty cocks his head curiously at me. “So, you’re not into him?”
Though the answer feels so much bigger than that, I keep it simple.
“No, why?”
He scratches the back of his jaw, a small smirk lifting the corner of his mouth.
“Because it would suck having to compete with my brother for your attention.”
I raise an eyebrow. “Compete for my attention?”
Setting down his cards, he scoots a little closer to me.
“Have I been subtle since I got here?”
“No,” I say, mashing my lips together to hide a smile.
He reaches out, brushing a piece of hair behind my ear as he leans in a little closer.
“You’ve always been a pretty girl, but fuck…you’re gorgeous, Ari.”
“And no longer jailbait?” I tease.
Ty grins at that, leaning in until our noses are just barely touching.
“Exactly.”
The air feels heavy as he slowly leans in, brushing his lips against mine. A light feeling flutters through me as his hand cups the back of my head gently, keeping me in place as his tongue tangles with mine. Holy shit, I can’t believe I’m making out with Tyson. My teenage self would be jumping for joy right now.
He drags me into his lap, pressing us against each other as close as possible as he lays down. I pull my hair to the side, my hands running down his chest as his cup my ass, grinding me against him. We fall apart in a mess of hands and mouths.
One piece of clothing at a time is thrown across the room before we’re lying there, skin to skin. My lips trail up and down his neck as I let out a soft laugh.
“What?” Ty smiles.
