CHAPTER 19
Cash
MY GIRL DOESN’T LIKE HIKING
“Son of a bitch!”I shout.
As soon as the three of us climb into my Range Rover, I speed away from my house, my fists clenched around the steering wheel.
“Why the hell are we going to see Carver?” Xander asks, pulling the slide of his gun to make sure it’s prepped.
He knows something’s about to go down, and he’s ready for it. We’re always ready for it. Until we’re not. Until we’re blindsided like we were with our dad.
Never again.
The Savage family has always owned the majority of Las Vegas, but that’s going to change. We’re going to own all of it and rule this entire fucking city like it’s our kingdom.
“Because that motherfucker lied,” I snap. “I told him I had Jordyn, and he didn’t say a fucking word about dating her.”
The tires squeal as I turn a sharp corner without slowing down. “That asshole was going to go on a date with her! Probably planning to fuck her!”
Unable to control myself, I slam my fist into the large center touch screen, smashing it and sending plastic pieces flying off the dash.
“Jesus,” Xander groans, running a hand over his face before he looks over at me, scowling. “You’re falling for her.”
My first instinct is to deny it. To tell him he’s wrong, and that I don’t give a flying fuck about Jordyn Kingston. Something bigger hits me instead. Something I don’t expect.
A need to defend her. To protect her. Claim her as mine so nobody fucks with her. To be loyal to her.
“Are you in love with her?” Xander demands, his eyes narrowed, unable to even fathom that thought.
“What? Fuck no!” I snap.
Because I’m not. Love isn’t on the table with her. Someone as bright and sweet and beautiful as Jordyn couldn’t love someone like me. I’m selfish, cruel, twisted as fuck, and an asshole. Even if I made her my entire fucking world.
Xander drops his head back against the seat. “Christ, Cash.”
“Okay, aside from Cash being in love with the bombshell. Why would Carver keep it from you? Why wouldn’t he say something?” Beckett asks from the back seat.
Glaring at the road, I chew the inside of my cheek. Why, in fact, would he keep that from me? What was the point? It doesn’t matter. What matters is that motherfucker was going to touch what’s mine, and he’s going to pay for that. It doesn’t matter that she didn’t know me at the time.
“I don’t fucking know. But he’s going to learn that lying to me doesn’t end well.”
Kian is already at the front entrance to the casino where Elliott Carver’s home office is. We all have our home bases. Mine is at The Obsidian Hotel and Casino. It’s our largest building on The Strip, second to The Sapphire.
“What the fuck are we doing here?” Kian asks when the three of us stride past him. “Hope you don’t mind giving me a ride home. I used a car service here because I was at The Empire.”
The Empire is two hotels down from here, but in Vegas distance, that might as well be ten miles away.
“Pretty sure Cash is here to make sure Carver knows that Jordyn belongs to him,” Beckett says with amusement.
We enter the gaming floor and march over to the elevator that goes directly to Elliott’s office. His security guard nods and scans his key to call the lift for us. It’s not until we’re alone inside that I speak.
“Elliott Carver lied to me. He withheld information about having a date with Jordyn. I want to know why.”
Kian whistles and glances at Beckett and Xander. “How are we going to get his body downstairs and out to our SUV without anyone noticing?”
I shoot him a glare. These fucking assholes. I love them to death, but sometimes I want to kill them.
