The elevator comes to a stop, and the doors open. Instead of addressing the much-too-perky secretary who greets us—another young woman with a tight dress on that barely covers her assets—I charge right into his office.
Elliott looks up, startled, and rises from his chair. When he sees all four of us, his eyes go wide for a second before he masks it with a smile.
“The Savage brothers. This was unex?—”
He’s unable to finish his sentence as my fist meets his jaw, sending him staggering backward.
“What the hell, Cash?” he shouts, his hand flying up to his face.
I swing again, this time cracking him in the nose. When I shove him, he slams against the wall behind his desk.
“Why the fuck didn’t you tell me you had arranged to go on a date with Jordyn the other night?” I growl, only inches from him.
A flicker of confusion pinches his face before he shakes his head and holds up his hands. “Dude, calm down. It was just a friendly date. We ran into each other at a coffee shop, and we talked about going hiking.”
Hiking?
What the fuck?
My girl doesn’t like hiking.
She likes the pool.
And cherry mojitos.
“At night? You were going to take her hiking in the desert at night?” I demand, stepping even closer.
“No, I mean we were going to have dinner, but it was nothing.”
I pull back and hit him again, only this time he blocks my fist and tries to shove me back.
“Nothing? She’snothing? Is that what the fuck you’re trying to say to me?”
My brothers stand back and let me handle this, but they’ll step in if needed. Not that Carver would be able to outfight me. He’s a square. The only fighting he has probably ever done was fencing or some stuck-up sport like that.
“No, fuck. I just mean… Look, you were all territorial about her the other night, so I didn’t think it would be a good idea to say anything.”
In a flash, I snap my arm out and grab him by the throat, pressing him against the wall. “You don’t talk to, date, or fantasize about Jordyn. Fucking hear me? She’smine.”
Elliott chokes and nods as he tries to pry my hand away from his airway. I stare at him, shooting daggers. Finally, I release him and take a step back as he starts coughing.
“Jesus,” he mumbles, sucking in a breath. “It wasn’t anything serious. More of a business dinner than anything.”
A vise wraps around my ribcage, making it hard to breathe. This motherfucking bastard. I should kill him. And I will if he makes one more wrong move when it comes to my kitten.
“It’s serious to me.”
She’s serious to me.
“Okay, I understand,” he answers, his eyes still watering from the nose punch.
“Fucking good.” I turn on my heel, my brothers smirking at me when I do. They don’t like Elliott, either.
“Cash, man,” Elliott calls out as we reach the door to his office. “I never meant any harm. We’ve always gotten along, and I don’t want our business relationship to be ruined because of a woman.”
Curling my hands into fists at my side, I turn to face him. “We never had a business relationship, Carver. And Jordyn isn’tawoman. She’smywoman.”
Without another word, I stride out of his office with my brothers. The four of us stay silent while we move as a unit through the casino floor and out to the valet. It’s not until we’re in my car that any of us speaks.
