I rub a hand over my face in frustration and let my gaze find Lyla who is still scanning the notebook pages.

Her head whips up.“He fucking knew.Samuel knew Della killed her mother. He’s an accomplice and Della held him by the balls because he killed his wife.”

“Details, Lyla.”Archer’s voice is filled with the kind of frustration we’re all feeling.“Does the man give any crucial details about the murders, crime scenes, murder weapons, victims, evidence, anything?”

“Not exactly,” my old lady grumbles.“He talks about regrets and the timeline fits. The man doesn’t journal every day.Like I mentioned, it’s more of an information dump and there’s a page every year on the same date. Here, the first page is exactly one year after Della’s mother went missing. He talks about regrets and having no choice when obligations of life push you in directions that leave you to clean up the mess others made.He mentions a young person who has no morals, no emotions, and scares the crap out of him to work with day in, day out.”

“Samuel served time in prison,” Bee says.“He started working here right after he was released.”

“Easy leverage to blackmail the fucker into helping them get rid of the body,” I grumble.

Ganza shifts on his feet.“Makes sense. What about his wife?Any details on her death?”

Lyla shrugs.“From the details and regrets he mentions I think it was an accident. They had an argument where she shoved him, but she stumbled back, hit her head on a statue and tumbled down the stairs.”

“Deaths are bad for business.”Wyatt crosses his arms in front of his chest.“My father once told me a former manager of one of his hotels wanted to move a body from a hotel room to the street.Having police show up, along with a dead body, is bad for a hotel’s reputation.Even if it’s handled delicately.Guests will leave, rumors will spread, loss of income. All reasons to shove shit under the rug.Especially when you run a small family hotel.”

“Especially if your own daughter kills your damn wife is more like it,” Lyla dryly states.

Archer sighs.“I guess it’s safe to assume Della is the killer.Samuel helping or not is all moot since the fucker is dead.We all need to focus on finding the killer.Don’t take any risks either if one of you run into her.”

Shoot to kill is what I’m hearing and I’m fine with that decision.Della Hallett is a dangerous, unpredictable woman who needs to be brought to justice; by meeting her maker or getting her ass thrown in jail.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

–LYLA –

“We need more brothers,” Archer grumbles.“Getting some of the other brothers here will take time and every damn second counts.”

A thought hits me and without thinking I blurt, “We could ask Livi and her old man, the Wisely Dicey clubhouse is closer than Broken Deeds.”

Archer’s head whips in my direction.“You’re right. It’ll save time and those fuckers are also under government contract.”He shoves his hand into his pocket and palms his phone while grumbling, “Why didn’t I think about that?”

Easy answer; because he’s handling a million things at once.Besides, Livi, who happens to be Archer’s cousin, just messaged the group app I’m in which reminded me of Wisely Dicey.Though, it’s probably the fact that Livi, along with Wisely Dicey MC, is a very new connection.

Recently Archer saw a photograph of Livi because she was a special agent going undercover to bring down Wisely Dicey.Livi looked like Archer’s mother and turned out to be the daughter of Lynn’s sister, Eve.No one knew about Eve’s existence because she was presumed dead due to an explosion at the maternity ward right after she was born.
