Frustration hits me and I grab the sledgehammer, easily lifting it to swing it through the air, letting the thing hit the wall with a satisfied bang.I swing again, making the hole bigger and repeat it four more times before I drop the sledgehammer and glance inside.

“Huh,” I grunt and glance over my shoulder at everyone.“Might want to bring back the forensic examiner. There are two large bundles wrapped in plastic in here.”

Archer curses and grabs his phone.I pop my head back inside and check out the tiny space between the two walls with a little help from my flashlight.A backpack catches my attention and I reach inside to take it.

Austin steps closer, along with Stephan and Wyatt.

“Looks like that’s been in there awhile,” Wyatt says.

I open the backpack and take out the first thing I see.

“A videotape.”Stephan takes it from me.“Why the fuck put it in there with the bodies?”

I pull out another videotape when Austin steps closer.“Let me have them.I’ll head back to the clubhouse where we have the equipment to see what’s on there.”

Handing them over, I take another glance inside the backpack and state, “I’m pretty sure you’ll find the evidence of both murders since there’s a damn knife in here with what I’m guessing is blood.Oh, and a statue or something. Here, take the whole damn backpack to process all the evidence.”

Austin takes it from me, glances inside, and murmurs, “Definitely,” as he turns and walks out of the hotel.

“I have a special team here within the hour to finish taking down the wall to get to the two bodies and process them.”Archer shines a flashlight into the hole in the wall to peer inside.“Pretty sure one of these bodies will be Della’s mother.”

“Maybe the other’s Samuel’s wife,” Lyla mutters and steps closer.“Why else are there two bodies hidden behind a wall if she killed so many others?”

“These two were personal.”I glance at Archer who bobs his head.

Bee leans in to glance through the hole in the wall.“Della’s father used to be a construction worker.Maybe the mother was the first murder?”

“Shit,” Lyla gasps.“Are you thinking Della killed her own mother and her father helped hide the body? That would be insane.I mean, how the hell could you help your daughter when she’s killed the woman you love?”

Bee shrugs.“You never know what twisted shit happens in family settings.I highly doubt Della was able to do all of this herself since she was sixteen at the time.”

“Okay so killing is a yes for a sixteen-year-old, but doing some renovating is tricky?”Lyla deadpans.

“Let’s focus on getting the bitch and wait for the results,” Archer states.“Speculating is getting us nowhere at this point.”

“No, but this might,” Ganza grunts and holds up a small notebook.“Someone needs to speedread this and get the highlights.”

“Whose notebook is it?”I question.

“Samuel Koba,” Ganza replies.“He had it stashed in a hole behind his mirror along with a bloody ring which I think was his wife’s wedding ring.”

Lyla steps closer.“I speedread.”

Archer gives Ganza a slight nod when I state, “If he had his wife’s bloody wedding ring the man damn well knew she wasn’t missing.Maybe Samuel was her accomplice. He was the cook and could have baked the pastries with the meat of their victims.”

“The fucker knew she wasn’t right in the head,” Lyla muses while flipping pages of the notebook.“The guy knew how to journal, adding the date and sticking to clear and plain details. Not much personal shit either. It’s more of a frustration dump of people he disliked.”

Murmurs of voices catch my attention, and I notice the team Archer mentioned is here.We all move to give them the space they need to break down the whole damn wall in the lobby to get the two bodies out.

Stepping into the parking lot, I’m suddenly on edge. We’re out in the open while Della slipped away.Fuck knows where the woman is, but she knows we’re on to her.She saw me and Lyla and could be out for revenge.

“Maybe we should head back to the clubhouse,” I suggest to my prez.“Take the old ladies home since there’s nothing much we can do here.”

“Not yet,” Wyatt states.“Your old lady is going through evidence and might give us a lead we can check out right away. It’s not something we can do if we head back.”

“I didn’t say all of us needed to head back,” I grumble.

Bee snorts.“Cut the shit, Pax.Lyla can handle herself.”
