Can’t say I blame him.

“Uh…Robbie? What’s up…man?” he asks, rubbing the back of his neck, his eyes flicking between me and the girl in front of him who is now fully focused on me.

I reach into my pocket, fishing out my car keys and tossing them at his chest. Caught off guard, he lets out a harsh breath as they knock the wind out of him, barely catching them before they hit the ground. “I’m parked around the corner. Go get my basketball bag out of my trunk and bring it to me,” I tell him as I push open the door of the bathroom, maneuvering my way inside without letting any part of Cooper’s writhing body hit the door frame.

Grady’s mouth falls open, looking from my keys to me. “I–”

“Thanks, Fisher,” I say, not giving him a chance to say anything else before I slam the bathroom door shut and lock it, leaving me and Cooper alone. I don’t need to tell him what car I drive. Of course he already knows. He can figure everything else out.

“P–put me down ri–right this s–second or I will–”

Cooper doesn’t get to finish her demand before I release my grip on her, letting her slide down the front of my chest. She hits the bathroom floor with unsteady feet, immediately trying to pull away from me but swaying and shivering too hard to get too far. I grip both of her elbows in my hands, holding her upright. She glares up at me, her nose flaring, but she doesn’t try to pull away. Not yet.

“W–wow, I see we’ve upgraded from a cl–closet,” she huffs, looking around the bathroom.

“Only the best for you, Cooper.”

Her eyes snap back to my face, and she promptly steps back, pulling her arms from my grasp and wrapping them around herself.Well, that didn’t take long.

“Why are we in he–here? And wh–what the hell was that in the hall? Why did y–you send that k–kid to go f–fetch your bag like he was your se–servant?”

Now that we’re inside and the air conditioning is cooling our already cold and wet clothes even further, Cooper is shuddering harder than ever.

“I have some extra clothes in my bag,” I tell her.

“Okay,” she quips, her brows pulling together. “A–and?”

“We need to get you out of this wet dress.”

Cooper’s spine snaps straight, her eyes widening to the size of gray saucers. “Excuse me?”

“You heard me. You’re soaking wet.”

“So are y–you!” she retorts. “And whose f–fault is that anyways?”

“Yours,” we both say at the same time, glaring at each other.

“Yeah, well, I have multiple changes of clothes in my bag. Hence me asking Fisher to bring it to me,” I say.

Cooper laughs. “If you think I’m putting your c–clothes on–”

“I’m thinking you don’t have much of a choice.”

“I have m–my own c–clothes in Al–Alice’s c–car!” she stammers, stomping her foot and fisting her hands at her side.

I take a step closer to Cooper, pointing at her chest.“You–” I start, but am cut off at the sound of the air conditioning starting up. Both of our heads raise, our eyes traveling up to the air vent directly above us as a gust of fresh cool air blows right onto us.

“Je–Jesus Ch–Christ,” Cooper curses, stepping back and crossing her arms, cowering in the corner of the bathroom.

I rake a hand through my hair, letting out a heavy breath as I watch her. She is shivering like she’s a stray dog stuck out in a snowstorm. Her teeth click together and her fingers dig into her biceps as she tries to hug herself as tightly as possible, and her hair, now forming into light ringlets as it begins to dry, bounces around her face and shoulders as she shudders. I can’t help but let my gaze trail further down, seeing how her dress is clinging to her for dear life, the peaks of her breasts formed into hard pebbles and straining against the thin fabric.

I shake my head, running a hand over my face, glancing between Cooper and the shower to my side. I know what she needs, and I don’t give it another moment of thought before I walk over and pull the curtain to the side just enough to turn the shower on.

“Um, wh–what are you d–doing?” Cooper questions me.

“Get in,” I tell her, nodding towards the shower.

Her mouth falls open, a confused laugh bursting out of her. “I’m sorry, wh–what?”
