He brings his fist up to his mouth and bites down on his knuckle, followed by scrubbing his face with his hands, then passing them through his hair as he pulls onthe ends. It’s like he’s undecided about what to do with his hands but needs to keep them occupied.
He finally moves from his spot and comes to me. My hand reaches out on its own toward his, to which he takes eagerly. “Baby, you look incredible,” he says as he checks me out once more.
“Yeah? You like?”
His eyes widen as they come back up to my face, shocked in disbelief that I would ask such a question. “Do I like it!? I fucking love it!” He wraps me in his arms, one hand in my hair and the other on my ass. “On second thought, I think we should stay in tonight. Yeah, that sounds like a better plan.” He starts walking me backward in the direction of my room.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I ask while laughing.
“Taking you to bed.”
“SILAS!” I laugh harder and swat his chest, concentrating on not losing my balance.
He finally stops his march and smiles down at me, a little chuckle escaping him. “You know I’m just joking, right?”
I beam back at him. “Of course, I do.” And it’s the truth, I do.Although for a second, I did wish he wasn’t.
He grabs my face between both palms and lowers slightly less than usual to kiss the tip of my nose.I love when he does that.“All right, we should get going. I’m excited for you to see what I have planned. I hope you’ll like it.”
“I’m sure I’ll love it.”
Barely ten minutes after leaving the underground parking, the car stops. But I have no idea where we are because Silas has me blindfolded, wanting me to enjoy the surprise to the fullest. The engine shuts off, and I hear his car door open and then close. Seconds later, mine is being opened.
“You ready, Baby?”
My hands shake in anticipation as they reach up to find him. “Yes.”
We walk for a little while, slowly given my blind state, and Silas carries me every time there are steps. There are voices around us, and I can practically hear their murmured questions. It makes a blush grow on my cheeks.
We get to a quieter section, and someone whispers directly to us. Well, to Silas. “Good evening, Mr. Hayes. Everything is ready for you. If you’ll just follow me through here.”
“Thank you,” Silas replies, still holding my right hand in his right and his left on my lower back, guiding me once more. We suddenly stop, and I hear sliding doorsopening.
“Have a wonderful time,” the man guiding us says.
We take a couple of steps forward, passing the doors as they shut behind us. “Ready?” Silas whispers in my ear.
I nod, emotions taking over my speech. He removes my blindfold, and I’m instantly hit with flashing lights from every direction. We’re in an elevator heading up, the walls around us covered entirely with mirrors, making the light show seem as if it goes on to infinity.
I’m completely in shock, mesmerized by what’s happening around me. I spin in a circle looking around in every direction. I turn back to Silas with my mouth gaping, a big goofy smile running from ear to ear. “Oh my God! This is amazing, Silas!”
He smiles brightly down at me. “You’re beautiful,” is all he says, and it’s perfect. My insides twist in the best way, my heart pounding a little harder.I love when he says things like that.
Once we reach our floor, we exit and walk down a hall until we reach an open space area. And oh my god, it’s breathtaking. Mirrors everywhere, the floor, the ceiling, along posts, but that isn’t the best part. Floor-to-ceiling windows line the walls, giving you the most incredible view of New York City.
Changing lights flicker from one color to another. Pink, purple, orange, blue, and more illuminate the entire room in its color of the moment. Every direction I look, I can see a reflection of us, and in every one Silas has his eyes on me, watching my reaction as I take everything in.
I tentatively make my way over to the windows, needing to get closer, to see the beautiful world below me. It’s just us here except for the few employees staying mostly out of view.
Silas doesn’t follow me to the window, not yet. Instead, he stays back and watches me, not saying a word. When I reach the ledge, I’m in awe, my heart in my throat as I look out at the picturesque scenery before me, the twinkling lights from buildings and the red glow of the circulating traffic below. It’s magical.
I stand in place for some time before Silas finally joins my side. From behind, he wraps his arms around me, holding me close and kissing the top of my head. I can feel his heart beating against my back.
“You’re so lucky to call this place home,” I say with a blissful sigh.
“It’s your home too, Minnie,” he replies, hugging me a little tighter.
“Where is everyone else?” I ask, curious as to how a place like this could be deserted.
