Sara giggled and gave him a kiss.
As the males settled around their females, Symphony began to feel a small ache in her chest. It was a familiar pang. The echo of not belonging.
Suddenly, she felt a shadow over her. Craning her neck, she glanced up and saw Tiegan staring down with a scowl. “Make room.”
“You could ask that nicely.”
“I could,” he said simply.
She narrowed her eyes at him and then glanced away. “There’s no room to make.”
Symphony expected him to let the matter drop, but the stubborn alien wedged himself into the space between her and Korben.
Heat flooded her entire body, but it seemed to be concentrated in her nano-tech arm. The tingles, paired with the burning sensation, made her lose her breath.
Tiegan stared intensely at her and broke off a piece of her alien bread. Shoving it into his mouth, he gave her a look of challenge that she returned in full.
Eighteen
Tiegan
Tiegan had been thinkingof Sim-pony constantly—through Adhi’s interrogation, during Clavas’s send-off and, a moment ago, when Rune questioned him about Sim-pony’s response to the nano-tech.
Every second apart from her was akin to torture.
And yet, now that he was finally in her presence, he wanted to throttle her.
For what reason was she throwing him those dirty looks? What severe wrong had he committed that she scowled at him so?
He stared at her beautiful face. Her twists curled and glistened. She had changed into a tunic like the other humans. It clung to her body and outlined her shape in a way that made his pants tighten. The fragrance wafting from her reminded him of nights spent sleeping under the stars.
She raised both his ire and his heat. What would he do with this female?
“Adhi!” Sim-pony started to rise. “Let me sit with—”
Tiegan tugged her down so she fell, unceremoniously, back on top of her cushion.
Sim-pony gave him a blistering look.
Adhi smiled. “I don’t think there’s any room.”
“Wait a minute. I have a solution.” Eema raised a scrawny arm. Pushing herself up, she plopped into Lans’s lap and grinned like a satisfiedbatas. “Now there’s room.”
Lans rewarded her by suckling her lips.
Tiegan wanted to chuckle, but he could feel Sim-pony’s heated stare on the side of his face. He glanced her way. “Do you have a problem?”
“You. You are my problem,” she hissed.
Adhi took the seat on Sim-pony’s right. “What are you two whispering about?”
“Nothing.” They said at the same time.
Adhi blinked.
“Did you discuss your matters with Rune?”
“Yes. I’ve agreed to the experiments.”
