He pursed his lips, his purple eyes growing thoughtful. “I have my suspicions, but I would like to confirm it first. In this regard, I will ask Adhi to stay at the sacred damas for inspection.”
“You’re going to experiment on her?” Symphony gasped.
“With her consent.” He dipped his head. “At this moment, Rune is working on a plan to save the unconscious female.”
“Why does he need a plan? Can’t he just follow what you did with me?”
“Neh. Each human is different. He had to create a solution that is tailored to your earthen DNA. It was easier, as you had only lost one arm. This female lost both legs. It is a bit more complicated.”
Symphony worried her bottom lip. Would Ginger be okay?
“Worry not, Sim-pony. We will get to the bottom of this. Both Adhi and your other human comrade will be safe with us.”
She followed him into the hallway. “That’s not what I’m worried about. I’d just love some answers instead of all these questions for once.”
The Healer chuckled softly, gesturing for her to enter the room where all the others had gathered. “In all honesty, I would too.”
“There she is!” Sara jumped from the table and tugged her to sit. “We were wondering where you ran off to.”
“The Healer and I were just having a chat,” Symphony said, slanting him a grin.
He winked in response.
Symphony settled beside Sara. When she turned her head, she realized she was sitting across from Leel. Her heart turned over and she gave the woman a nervous smile. Leel could only conjure a pained grimace in response.
Her heart is probably broken and she’d prefer to be crying in a corner right now.
“Did you hear?” Sara set a platter in front of her and dropped a slice of alien bread into it. “Clavas is going after the woman who they suspect is at the fourth landing point.”
Her eyes flickered up. “You’ve heard about it already.”
“Korben told us.” Emma bounced into the room with a platter of strange-looking fruits. “They’re seeing Clavas off right now.”
“I should have said goodbye.”
Simone licked her fingers. “It’s fine. We’ll see him again. If that girl is anything like you and Ginger, she landed somewhere and stayed put. I don’t think she and Clavas will have an epic adventure or anything.”
Kia nodded.
Symphony bobbed her head. “True.”
Footsteps clattered in the distance. At that moment, all the Plutonian warriors flooded the room. The giant space was now dwarfed by their beefy muscles and tall physiques.
As usual, Symphony’s eyes drew to Tiegan without her permission. She forced her head down, focusing on her food. Still, she could feel his stare boring into her. Curiously, her arm started to tingle.
“Did you see him off?” Emma asked her mate, Lans.
He dropped into the seat beside her and lovingly nuzzled her neck. “Indeed.”
Emma giggled. “Lans, not here.”
“Should we go somewhere else then?” He crooned.
“Eat.” Emma stuffed his face with the alien bread.
“Scoot down, would you please, Symphony?” Sara asked, making room for Korben.
“No need.” He picked her up smoothly, fell into her seat and then draped her over his lap.
