Dr. Beloca looked at the small diamond ring in front of him. It wasn't glowing unlike it did nine days ago. Its white glowy light was both a good thing and a bad thing.

The first night it glowed, the beaming sound had gone off in the thermometer which was in one of the drawers. It's the first time the thermometer is going off in years.

It was a victory he'd never forget. Even now, he can remember the overwhelming happiness that coursed through him at the loud beeping.

He'd rushed to the drawer, pushed it out, and there it is... The location of the ring bearer.

Instantly, he'd made the call to the Wolfhunters and revealed the location to them. Two hours later, they came back with the ring but without the bearer.

"The ring wasn't in the possession of a werewolf, but an old man who confessed to being a pawnbroker. He said a lady pawned the ring to him. He was on the run to go and start a new life since he knows the monetary value of the ring." Adeladin, the director of Wolfhunter's had relayed to him on the phone.

"Clueless old goat. He has no idea the ring has more value than just monetary. Who cares about its monetary value when it holds greater value to us?" Dr. Beloca had snapped, "So, what happened next?"

"My men killed him and took the ring."

"Good. Have your men bring the ring to the lab, it will help us find the werewolves again, after eighteen years. I can't believe this day is finally here," He'd been happy, and he didn't bother hiding it either, "What about the 'lady' who pawned the ring?"

"My men are already out looking for her. We need her because she's our only link to those animals." Adeladin had stated.

"Yes. Find her and bring her to the lab after you're done with her."

"That will do. Can't believe we have this ring. Finally. We will get those animals." Those were the last triumphant words Adeladin said before he'd hung up the phone.

That was a week and four days ago. They'd been searching for the 'lady' but they haven't been able to find her.

Then, nine days ago, the ring had glowed.

He'd gone to the thermometer and looked. There is it...a different location.

Turns out a pearl is missing from the ring, and the glowing light of the ring was calling out to that pearl. The thermometer gave the location of the pearl.

He'd called the Wolfhunters and informed them. They'd gone to the location, which is the girl's house prepared for any resistance they might meet.

But they weren't prepared for the resistance they met. Two strong werewolves were with the girl. And they had escaped with the girl.

Till today, the Wolfhunters still talk about the powerful wolf that caught bullets with his hands and escaped more than two hundred Wolfhunters while piggybacking a woman. A powerful werewolf.

Dr. Beloca will bet all his money that the wolf is Number 6.

Just the thought of that animal has fear sliding down his back.

That was the last time the ring glowed which can only mean that the pearl has gone back to where those werewolves have been for the past eighteen years which made them undetectable. He figured that place to be their land.

"You sent for me, Dr. Beloca." The familiar masculine voice dragged him out of his thoughts—and his eyes away from the ring.

He closed the drawers and turned towards his apprentice, Simon. "Yes. Update me on your findings."

"Well, from what I know, those animals sent out most of their own to the old lab to look for us or any clues that might lead them to us."

"Mmm," he cocked his head to the side, "For now, we stay on the down low. Those animals are too damn strong. If we're not prepared, it will be a losing battle."

He has the chance to continue Dr. Angor's work. He wouldn't fuck it up. "Make sure to keep me updated, and make sure you never leave clues that will lead them here."

"Of course, Dr. Beloca."

"After eighteen years of waiting for the perfect time, I am finally ready to continue Dr. Angor's work. Now, I only need the girl."

"The Wolfhunters are still looking for her. They are—"
