A husky laugh escaped her, her cheeks turning a nice shade ofpink.
At least it wasn’t uncomfortable between us, but we still neededto talk.
“I’ll be here for your whole shift,” I told her, placing a softpeck on her cheek. “You need anything, you let me know.” I reached an armaround her, grabbing a handful of her ass and tugging her even closer.
A sharp gasp left her, her hand landing against my chest. “Youmaking a point, Sam?”
“Yes.” My mouth brushed along the length of her ear. “Lettingevery fucker in this building know who you belong to, pet.”
She turned her head, her mouth finding mine.
I smirked, cupped the back of her head with my free hand, andpushed my lips against hers.
“That’s all I needed, thank you.” She kissed me one last timebefore pulling her hand from mine so she could actually work. Didn’t think theowners would pay her for hanging out with me.
“She’s happier because of you,” Shawnee said when Amber was outof earshot.
“I’m happier because ofher.” But although I said thosewords, I still wished she was in my arms where she belonged.
I sat on a stool at the bar, turning around to face Amber’sfriend. I didn’t know Shawnee well, but she had been nothing but nice to us andshe also never hit on me like most of the other women at the club had.
“You really going to be by her side during this?”
My jaw clenched, not liking the accusatory tone coming from her,but I got it. Amber’s late husband, ex, whatever the fuck you wanted to callhim, messed her up.
“Yes, I will. No matter what.” I turned to watch Amber interactwith some of the customers. She would laugh every so often at something theysaid, the sound sending tingles through my balls.
“Sam.”
My head whipped around. “Donotcall me that.”
Shawnee raised an eyebrow.
“Shecalls me Sam. My mother called me Samson. Everyoneelse calls me Sammy. That includes you. End of.”
“Huh…Amber said that you’re different, but I guess I neverbelieved it until now.” She grinned.
I grunted and turned back around to watch my girl when Irealized that she was nowhere in sight. Jumping from the stool, I looked aroundthe room. “Where is she?”
“What do you mean?”
I turned to face Shawnee. “I mean just what I said. Where. Is.She?” I was being a dick, but I didn’t really give a shit. When there werepeople who wanted Amber for themselves, the alpha mixed with the Dom in me,needed to protect her. At all times. And not currently knowing where she was, forced this newfound rage in me.
Instead of waiting for Shawnee to answer, I went down theclosest hall. I checked the bathrooms. She wasn’t in them. The storage room waslocked. The change room was also locked.
Every time I checked a room and came up empty, the rage seemedto only grow inside of me.
I could feel the eyes of my crew watching me, probably wonderingwhat the hell I was doing and who I was looking for.
Security at this place was top notch and only the best of thebest worked here, so I knew that they wouldn’t have let something happen.
A thought came to me, sending a sour taste to my mouth.
Heading down the hall that led to the private dance rooms, I wasmet by Corbin Wane. He was head of security and was also friends with all ofthe dancers. He was a big fucker, a little on the twisted side and easy to setoff.
“Sam.” He came toward me. “You want to book a room?”
“No.” I stopped myself from saying something shitty and howAmber was my girlfriend when I remembered that he hadn’t been at the club forawhile. I heard that he had gone home to Africa to be with family, but rumorshad gone around that he went home for other reasons too. “I’m looking forAmber.”
